Car is away for winter question about gas tank
My brother just told me that I should keep the gas tank full while the car is in the garage away for the winter. I didn't know that when the car was put away in septmeber and now it has less then a quater left in the tank. I've also heard that you should add something to the fuel when you put it away. What should I put in the tank and is it ok to fill up now? Is there rust in there that will kill my fuel system? All suggestions are welcome!!!!

yeah full would be ideal , and you should put some fuel stabilizer in it if you dont ever run it. also on a side note, is the car sitting on the ground? if so i would be worried that the tires would get flat spots, i'd put it on some jackstands

I've read this from other guys on the board that have let the car sit on their tires. When he went to drive, he felt some bumbs because of slight flat spots, but as the tires heated up, they went away for good.
winterization- fill gas tank, then add dry gas (takes the water out of the tank). with selt belted tires you do not need to raise the car on jacks. make sure the place where you are housing it is rather dry. another good idea is to get an oil change about two weeks before you put it away.
well i stand corrected, all the guys i know that put their cars up for winter jack them up ... but they are mainly older so i guess thats what they had to do back in the day. my car is a daily driver so it gets to drive out in the snow/salt all winter i dont really know too much about storing it for more than 2 days at a time
