cam selection

i really need help on cosing a cam for my 1995 standard 3.4 camaro. The motor is already out of the car for a rebuild so i am doing everything now. i work as an engine builder in an excellent shop, but i need feedback on good or bad experiences with cam makes and grinds. when assembled the motor will have 9.367 to 1 compression, headers, ported heads, no cat, full 3" exhaust, stage 2 centerforce clutch, aluminum flywheel, chip, and a custom cold air intake. These mods are along with many suspension mods. If anyone could help it would be great.

Just my 2 cents. You can actually call Comp Cams and give them a list of your mods, and they can better help you choose a cam that will suit your needs. If you're wanting an agressive cam, or a basic regrind, they can help you out. Or like said before, go to CamaroV6. They're pretty knowledgable on the subject. Sounds like you've got a pretty nice car there. Keep it up. Let us know how it turns out.

you would be surprised to find out the condition that the car is in right now. we had one of those months were nothing goes in your favor. a druck chick backed into the nose/front fender, on the way home from there we got rear ended by a civic that left the scene. the car had perfect teal green paint before that. the deductable would have put us in the hole to much to get the car fixed the right way. one week later the car was running good so i ran my friends supercharged benz, idamn near ruined the clutch on that pass. the was enough clutch left to get back and forth to work for a couple of days though. driving to workthe next day it was 100 degrees out and i blew a head gasket. Demon cars suck!

here is a good list for cams.....
http://www.s-series.org/htm/performance/60degree.php

you should check those guys out if you are looking to get a bigger cam. They have a lot if not all of comp customs grind put together in some good packages. There was one the other week with a .226 .236 duration and .501 .523 with springs, locks new pushrods etc.....I know a guy that went with that package and has been well pleased.

Also the owneer of that site(Josh is his name I believe) is running a huge custom grind from lunati. You ought to give him a email sometime he is very knowledgeable and has a good bit of hands on experience.

With the crower cams. I have heard a lot of guys wanting to go to the hauler cam instead of the baja. Its a small step up but for a couple of bucks what do you have to loost.....thats in the second link that I gave you there.

You ought to check out fbodyv6.com and ask wolf, southern94
and tiago about their cams. Its a mix of comp, crower cams and some other custom grinds.

and by the way what are you doing with your heads? My 2 cents would be to get the flow #'s off your heads and then look for a cam to go with it.

i do have the stock heads on the car, but, i do alot of head porting at work so the heads will be heavily ported. i wish the flowbench was working. i guess my luck isn't so good with this car.

I read in another post that you have 10.5 compression in the 95. Did you tear into the motor again? Why? Are you going to turbo that too?

i havent even torn into the motor yet, it is still on the stand at work. i have been to busy to do anything, i will start tonight probably. i decided to go around 10.5- 11 to 1 compression. i am sorry that my plans keep changing but i have a hard time sticking to the ORIGINAL PLAN. the car was going to get a turbo, but, my plans changed again when i decided to use both of the turbos that i have on my camaro "the 95 is my wifes car". i was going to used a t67 on my car, and the other t67 or her car. i changed my mind when i saw how much cleaner the twin turbo setup was. i will probably put a single turbo setup on the 95 one of these days, but not for a while.

Oh ok. I replied in the other post to you. I want to check out your cars. I've always wanted to turbo my car. Seems a little expensive though. You must have some serious cash flow to be able to afford it.
