burning fuel pumps...help

My girlfriend has a 02 Camaro. In April '09 the fuel pump went out. Replaced it w/a new pump and then in Sept. '09 it went out again. Replaced it with another new pump and 2 days later it went out again. The car sat for 2 months till i finally replaced the fuel pump(refurb pump). Well after 2 weeks it went out again. Now my questions is, does anyone know why it keeps burning out pumps? Thanks in advance

Is it one of those cheapo pumps? A lot of times you get what you pay for when it comes to parts. Otherwise it's probably an electrical problem causing it to burn out.

sounds like a broken wire or a short. I would check the wiring to the pump first.

The first pump has a direct oem replacement and the other 2 were aftermarket pumps.

What should I be lookin for in the wiring?
Thanks again

a short, broken wire, missing insulation. Shake the wiring around with the key in run and see if you can hear the pump come on. Test the wires to the pump for continuity to see if they are grounding out some place before the pump. You will need a multimeter.

I'm sure you probably thought of this but, are you sure it doesn't have a clogged fuel filter? The only time I ever needed to replace one was on my DD when I forgot to replace the filter and burned out the pump trying to push fuel through a clogged filter.

I know you probably thought of this but just in case...
