Brake Rotors

Hey guys, i've been spending way too much on my car lately. I got new tires a few days ago that ran me $525 then insurance came with $320, and a check about my "engine light" for $40 that did nothing, but anyway, the tire place said I should replace my brake rotors, and they said they were looking "rough" so what happens if I don't do anything with them for a while? What's the worst case senario? And how much do they usually run for, and are they hard to install? Any info on Brake Rotors would be helpful - thanks guys!

Unless they are cracked or warped (causing the brake pedal pulsate) then they are probably fine.

If you still want to change them Autozone sells replacements for ~$20ea.

The manuals are invaluable when it comes to routing maintenance.

i won't get them from autozone or pepboys or midas or any of this shops, those are crap. they would work fine with my 88 blazer but for some reason they won't work in my camaro. same thing had happened with my friends and their camaro's. i think our babies doesn't like raybestos or crap like that. you got many souces like tirerack for example. they have brembo oem replacement for $53 Each.
remember don't play cheap with your brakes, after all ,they are the most secure way to stop your car

good luck

So if I buy them is it hard to install by my self? How do you get to the rotors. Remove the wheels, then how do you do the rest? I know you have to remove the caliper, so how do you do that and is it easy after that? A few screws?

Yes it helps to remove the wheels. Then it's 2 bolts on the rotor and you're done.

To warn you for the fornt rotors, you need a hex key, its like $2, at an autoparts store, look for one that says "Late model GM cars" because you have a late model GM car, then pick up the one next to it that says GM cars, and is a little bigger....

yeha I had to make a trip back to the store... honestly a book is a good investmetn, will give you every tip you need.

I did a whole rotor upgrade, performance break pads upgrade & painted my calipers at the same time.. took 3 hours labour, and 12 hours drying time total...

Here are some pics..

1. Before Picture

2. My friend cleaning one of the calipers...

3. Clean Caliper painted, and awaiting second coat...

4. Photos of the New Rotor / the Old Rotor

5. The finished after photo..

here are some pics of it on the car... pics are not the best due to yellow lights around..
