Bad Thermostat?

Anyone else have problems with a thermostat.

After about 115,000 miles, my stock Thermostat went out. So, I picked up a decent thermostat from AutoZone. And the new one was a 185 (from stock 195). After installing the new 185 'stat. The car would never get any hotter than about 165 or 170 as if I had installed a 160 thermostat. Now that new one has gone bad, and its only been in for about a month now.

Was it the fact that I bought it at AutoZone.
Or does the computer not like anything but a 195 'stat without re-programming?
I'm going to try and run a 195 'stat and see what happens. Maybe it was just a bad one, and luck of the draw?

I just thought it as odd that a 185 thermostat didn't keep the engine running at 185 but about 20 degrees cooler?!?

I fixed it.

It was a combination of the actual coolant level being too low, and the thermostat.

Once I filled the coolant up, and the thermostat actually opened. It shot down to the normal 180 and wouldn't budge no matter what, and the heater was just pumping it out.

Having looked down the filler neck though, it looks like I need a coolant flush.

Item number 342 to be fixed before Ennis. yeesh.
