Hey all, I have a 97 v6 firebird that has been sitting at my parents house for storage. I have started it a few times and now all of a sudden I cannot get it to start. When I turn the key to ignition it only ticks. I replaced the battery and tried jumping it but to no avail, same ending result. I dont drive the car as I have a 94z28, but I am going to be selling this to a friend and would like to know what is going on so I can fix it.

 

if your just hearing a single clicking sound every time you turn the key to the start position I say your stater is more than likely going bad. Try tapping on the starter with a small hammer or something while some one is trying to start the car.

 

If its a click you hear when you turn the key, it means the solinoid is working and the starter is not!
