95 3.4 cranks, but won't start
Good evening to all;
A "newbie" question- so please bear with me- my 95 with a 3.4/auto (150,000 miles) recently started to "gain" oil in the crank case. Smelled a bit gas-y if you know what I mean. With all the cold weather we'd had, it had been idling a lot so I immediately changed the oil, and kept an eye on it. The oil did seem to still gain maybe a little bit, but it was sort of hard to tell.... It was driving worse than normal, so I parked it for about a week, and when I went out to drive it last week, all it would do is crank, and ocassionally it feels like it "hits" on a cylinder, ocassionally I get a backfire. I do hear the fuel pump spooling up when I turn the key, and it runs for maybe 2 seconds then is quiet... so I don't think it's the pump. I was getting ready to pull the plugs when my friend with a '96 T/A said he would question if I had a really leaky injector which was fowling my oil, causing the poor performance, and now was so bad it was stuck open, causing me to loose my fuel rail preasure so none of the other injectors would function (or barely function), and this would also explain the backfire.
My autoparts guru says he thinks it's the ?"control module" the coil packs plug into? Your thoughts please! jj
