93 V6 ... what is this plug on the driver side head?

It looks something like an O2 sensor and is gray in color( on her car at least), but i'm very unsure of what it is. I noticed on my girlfriends car today that when i was checking fluids and had the car started, this "plug" was smoking as if it were burning oil off of it. Can anyone help me out?
