5speed gear ratios.
5speed gear ratios.
I am looking at installing a camaro 5speed behind this 3.4l that I installed in my truck. I am needing a bit of help on which one I should install. Resources have told me that the 3rdgen 5speed is different then the 4th gen 5speed.
First question, what is the gearing for both?? 3rd and 4th gen.
Second, does the 4thgen have a removable bell housing??
So far, I know the 3rdgen 5sp has removable bellhousing, which would make easier to adapt to my slave cylinder.
As for gearing, all I can find is...
3rdgen
1. ?
2. ?
3. ?
4. ?
5. .63
4thgen
1. 3.75
2. ?
3. ?
4. ?
5. .76

4th gen ratios:
1st 3.75
2nd 2.19
3rd 1.41
4th 1.00
5th 0.74
also, the 4th gens t-5 has a 26 spline input shaft(like the v8's) while the 3rd gens have a 14 spline input shat, bouth bellhousings are removable

The T5 ratios atl2001 listed look like 3rd gen v8 ratios. The 3rd gen v6, from what I can find, had a ~4:1 first and a huge gap to 2nd and a .67 5th.
atl, can you say for sure what those ratios are from? If they're 4th gen V6 I think that'd be very interesting....
I admit I'm just repeating what I've seen elsewhere, but it seems like it may be correct.
But any sure firsthand info is very welcome.
thanks

Aare you messing with me or are you too young to remember that movie line? "Dr Livingston, I presume?"
They even used it in the Flintstones, except it was "Dr Livingstone, I presume?"
I knew it was you Dale!
Now get to work finding those ratios!
