4.3 v6 vs v8

Are the (1998) vortec v6,s any good in stock form?And do they use the same trans bolt patteren as the v8's.Looking at a c1500 with the v6 and not sure about the v6 but dollar wise it's a good deal.

the 4.3 SCFI in the 96+ GM trucks isn't a bad motor. It's no powerhouse but it's not intended to be. They have a lot of issues with the injectors and cooling systems.
