hey guys, im a tech at a GM dealer. im chasing a misfire in cylinder #1 on my girlfriends 94 camaro with a 3400 in it. i ohmed out the wires and plugs- everything was within spec. i checked spark at the plug side of the wire with a combustion simulator- the spark looked good. i also switch the plugs and wires to another cylinder just to double check myself- when i go to do a power balence test its still a dead miss in cylinder #1. im going to hook up my fuel guage and do a injector drop test tomorrow. i dont have the service manuals home so my questions are

1. where is the fuel rail tap on this motor? or is there not one.

2. has anyone done an injector drop test on these motors without the switch box and the hearness jumper?

im gonna also check compression and backpressure tomorrow- im praying that its mechanically ok- i dont feel like another project

 

Did you check the voltage drop across the injector? Does your dealer have a machine to measure how much it will flow? Whats the serial data say, or do you have access to that info?

 

no DTCs, when i use the tech one and shut down the #1 cylinder injector and unplug the IAC the rpms stay perfect. i didnt do a injector coil test- the injector drop tester has a port to hook up my fluke meter and check the coil under load. and the drop tester will pulse the injector so i can see the fuel pressure drop

a tech at another shop recommended checking the intake. i never throught the RWD 3400 had problems with intakes like the FWD 3400. so im gonna get a lil starting fluid and spray it around the intake around cylinder 1.
