3 Maintainence Questions

Hello, haven't been here in while, hope everyone is well.
I have a 2000 V6 Camaro w/ 36.5k

I have 3 questions regarding maintenance:

1. Took my car in to the dealer w/ 36,500 miles on the clock. My fuel gauge reads full after 233 miles from the same tank. With extended warranty, they want $100 deductible. I guess its fair... but I didn't know Extended Warranty has a deductible. Have any of you expereience this?

2. They of course suggested that I need a brake job. My brakes haven't even squealed. I remember reading from MSN suggesting not to over worry from small squealing sound... most mechanics want to replace your brakes prematurely. At 36k of moderate driving, I feel that they are just pulling my legs. What do you all think?

3. They also suggested a Serpantine belt needs to be replaced. I remember learning how to replace serpantine belts from HS autoshop. On my parent's Olds, it just requires a 3/8" ratchest to release the tension and the belt slips on and off. Is this the same for our V6 Camaros?

Don't let those bastages touch your car, they just want some easy money.

When you apply the brakes to slow down fast or after slowing down going pretty fast does it feel like something is warped? Does your steering wheel vibrate a lot. If it does they may need to be looked at, tires could also cause this.

If you know your cars and can work on it, you don't need them to replace your "easy" fixes

OK, here is an update.

I just rememberd I hide my Wheel Lock Key inside a bag in the Trunk. In the past, all the other mechanics have always called me or asked me to show them where I placed it. No tire shop or mechanic have ever been able to find the key.

How would they have been able to check out my Brakes without removing my tires? They didn't even call me to ask me where my wheel lock key was. This dealership is full of SH*T

I checked carparts.com and found that the fuel pump module costs $419. I called the service rep and he said it would have cost me $400 +.

I told them to finish off the oil change and the fuel sending unit only and leave the rest alone.

The brakes might be bad, they have those wheel-lock keys just laying around the shop (unless you have aftermarket wheels). But the best thing to do is for you to change your own brakes. They are very easy to swap and it only takes like 1 hour even if you've never done it before.

1) Not sure about deductible

2) I have 83,000 miles on my stock pads, and they are still good. If you have factory wheels, they can still take it off.

3) Yes, get a socket and rachet and turn the tensioner to release the belt and to put on the belt. Remember the path visually, it's easier this way than looking at the diagram.
