3.4 swap probs
3.4 swap probs
long story short someone started a swap om a 94 v6 car that blew the stocker up and was just replacing it.The guy that started the swap got it all doen except for the wiring before he had a heart attack and lost his shop. The kid that owned the car is paying my friend to finish the swap and he has everything done but can get it to fire.It has spark, but wont start. Are the sensors the same on all 3.4s from the fbodys?
As far as i know they're the same. I mean hell they were only in there for 3 years (93-95) so they weren't in there long enough to make any changes to it. If it's sparking but not firing sounds to me like there's an issue of getting fuel into the engine. He better check the fuel system out
there are alot of things to check,as long as it is the same motor with the same injection system and all the plugs are the same thats fine i'm not sure on the 3.4's but some cars fuel system works off oil pressure to turn on fuel pump/if the switch was left unplugged that could do it you need to see if it has a pulse from injecter some shops also remove fuel pump fuses when working on then sometimes you should start with with all the small things
to eliminate all other problems tell him to spray fuel injection cleaner into throttlebody and try starting it if it starts and stalls it is a fuel issue sometimes the pumps can turn on but will not pump gas (the pump breaks internally)but just to keep from putting it more parts than you need double check to make sure there is enough gas in the tank(it probably was checked but you never know)
sounds like either the line is blocked from being so low or the pressure regulator may be bad/blocked at the fuel rail. Also could still be the pump, just because you can hear it come on and prime doesnt mean its building enough pressure. try to start it with the carb cleaner, if that works, take your fuel filter back off (front fitting only) and get a big bucket and put under it to catch the fuel (may want to attach some hose to help direct the fuel), and turn the key on to see how strong its pumping, if its barely, then you have a pump problem, if its plenty, I would replace pressure regulator.
