Re: 3.4 to 3.8 questions
why would i have to replace the fuel tank? that just one of my qestions. why wont my 4L60e blot up to the 3.8. i also dont understand why my fuel lines wont hook up to the 3.8 i undestand why they wont to the lt1 cuase there to short but considering the fuel hook ups are on the front of a 3.8 and on the 3.4 are in relitivly the same spot. the k member i have no idea about so im not gona speculate about that.

Re: 3.4 to 3.8 questions
You would also have to convert from OBD1(.5) to OBD2 in all likelihood.
That, in itself, is a doozie. I think the 4L60E will bolt up to either v6, since they are both 60 degree patterned, but that's the least of your problems.
K-member? I remember reading on another f-bod forum that that would have to be swapped in a 95 3.4L car, since the 3.4 and 3.8L never did show up at the same time. Same year, yeah, but the 3.8L replaced the 3.4L...and the 3.8L is taller and shows that with a 3.4L k-member.
Radiator can stay, the fan...well, the LT1 uses the same twin fan setup as the LS1 and 3.8L do, oddly enough.
Just hop up the 3.4L for a good bit less cost. There are those parts out there.

Re: 3.4 to 3.8 questions
my car is already odb2 and for the tranny i have no idea i been doing some research and the k member is diffrent i still have to look in to the fuel pump and tranny but as the fuel tank i dont see why i would have to switch tanks just the fuel pump. i dont mind replacing the k member and the engine that is in there is showing its age and the rest of the car is in great shape. aftermarket parts for 3.4 are very expenisve and not much gain cuase i looked into it

Re: 3.4 to 3.8 questions
okay so here is my qestion chevamaro if the connector type is odb 2 but the computer is odb1 cuase my computer reads it as odb2 but i get what your saying then if i just switch the computers wont that be alwright i mean what else would need to be done besides switching out the computers if the wireing and plug are odb compatible already
Re: 3.4 to 3.8 questions
You will need all the wiring from the OBDII car assoicated with the computer (the rest of the wiring is the same such as starter and turn signals) because the sensors are different. You dont need a whole new front end. I dont know about the K-member or the tranny bolting up. Fuel lines.... Im not sure either, you might be able to get away with your old ones. Its really not that difficult to replace the computer and all its wireing harnesses if you already have the engine out. everything is right there and some of them unplug and stay on the 3.8 engine you will be putting in. The rest are fairly simple, just the routeing of them into the car may be a little hard... Just pay attention to how everything was routed in the old car to see how you should do it. Anything attached to the computer you will need to pull out and swap. I believe just the digonstic connecter is the same in your car, it has more wires in the OBDII computer going to that connector. If you look at it you will probally see a bunch of blank holes where there is no connections. Dont be discourged from doing this just because everyone else says its too hard. If thats what you really want and are motivated and dont get frustrated you will be happy with this. Especially if your car is sedimental. I did a V-8 swap into my 85 Firebird and even though a lot had to be changed, tranny, mounts, pretty much the entire suspention, I was very happy with it and was glad I didnt just go and get a V-8 car. Putting the work into it makes it just that much more your car, knowing what you did to it.

Re: 3.4 to 3.8 questions
well im not discuraged i just want to make sure i can do this and whats involved i dont mind tearing out the engine compartment wiring and the computer but do i have to change wiring under the dash and stuff? i have determined the k member has to be changed wich doesnt matter cuase it would have to come out weather i went to a 3.8 or put a new 3.4 in
Re: 3.4 to 3.8 questions
Yes you will have to replace some under dash wiring, but not all. To what extent, I am not sure. It might only be the diagonstics port. You will just have to see how much wiring goes from the computer (located under the hood on the passenger side near the firewall and right front fender) to inside the car. It shouldn't be that much. I believe the harness also goes to the instrument panel for the SES lights and other warning lights. That might be the same but rather than trying to seperate wires it all comes in a harness and probally easier to replace it as a whole.

Re: 3.4 to 3.8 questions
geeze almost seems easyer to do a 5.7 swap cuase they said online at a web page as long as you grabe a matching year wich i have a 95 i would have to go in the dash for the wireing for the 5.7 hmmm im gona have to think about this cuase i figure this would be easier then a 350 and thats why i wanted to go this way but it apears now it gona be just as difficult
