Post 25mpg LS1...Is it possible?

I'm sure its possible to get 25 mpg, but I'm really looking for more. What are ALL the possible upgrades i can make without decreasing performance. I'm aiming to get about 30 mpg...is it possible? I think i can get close...hmmm... money is no option. What'cha got?

Question Re: 25mpg LS1...Is it possible?

I was also wondering if different octanes have different mileage affects. I live 19 miles 1-way from my job. I'm worried about gas mileage, but I'm also wondering about what i can do to minimize wear-and-tear on my car. Considering I can easily travel 50 miles a day, 7 days a week. (besides from moving closer to my job) What can i do to completely ENSURE the life of the entire car? I'm trying to treat this car as "the one".

In a M6 LS1, 30 mpg on the highway is very possible. As for the different octane ratings, I wouldn't play around with that. In the owners manual, it will clearly state that you need to use 91 octance or greater. Otherwise, if you use a lesser grade, you run the risk of pinging, possible engine damage, and a loss of power. Some bolt-on modifications like a full exhaust and intake can actually help increase your mpg's as well.

Its definately possible. My LT1 knocks down 30mpg on the highway. You could probably still hit 30mpg in a LS1 with a mild cam.

A 6 speed LS1 can easily get 30 mpg on the highway, with full exhaust and an intake (and a driver that can take it easy on the go pedal).

yes, I pulled 32 mpg in a 6-speed vette, and 25 in the city.

5 mpg is not gong to make or break you, if it is, don't buy a ls1.
