1. Look on your driver's side door for a code that says GU then a number next to it. Do a search on here and it should bring up the code. The 99's I think came with the 3.08's. 00 and higher got the 3.42's.

most of the time "by wire" such as "fly by wire" means that the controls are controlled by electronics and not mechanical. So i would assume there would be some type of sensor near say a gas pedal telling a computer how far down the pedal is pressed to have the car accellerate or deccellerate.
There is i think a GM prototype hydrogen drive by wire car that all the controls are electronic and you can move the steering wheel from left side drive to right side drive just by sliding it over.

throttle by wire is just that, no cable to operate the TB. it uses a petenioniter (sp) type sensor on the gas pedel and a motor to use the signlas from it to open and close the TB blade. the vettes use it as well as some newer GM SUV's
ok cool thats what I thought. I was wondering because usually when my friends have thier cars running and the hood is open with them in it i manually open the throttle. It scares the living hell outta them. So 2 days ago while my car was running I popped the hood and was looking for the throttle cable, but I couldn't find one. So I see a thread yesterday that said Throttle-by wire and a light bulb went off. Thanks for the help guys.
