2 CATS on a CAMARO?

I was looking at a previous post and somewhere it had something about duel cats on Camaro's.

it also made me think about when I bought my Borla how there was a model for V8 camaro's with 2 cats and Camaro's with 1 cat.

I know the V6 has one, but where do they put 2 on the V8 and which ones have them?
Why would they do that with a car with single exhaust I pipe?

2 cats will make the NOx and other polutants go down as compared to having jsut one cat. the more the cats the cleaner the exhaust. im not sure on which years had 2 , but i know at least some of the LS1's had 2

the 98+ SS cars have 2 cats in parallel (one for each side). they're farther upstream so they warm up quicker. this is good for lowering cold start emissions. its also good for exhaust flow, which means slightly less back pressure.

I was reading a past issue of Car Craft, where a reader wrote in and asked about cats on his older car, and flow from them. Car Craft said the rule of thumb was the farther back a cat is, the better it flows, and the closer a cat is to the engine, the better it is for emissions.

I have a stock setup form a 96 z28, it had a dual cat setup.

I-pipe started right about wear the torque arm ends. I had a 2.5 in. pipe made to connect it to my y-pipe.

the cAts were side by side under passneger seat, one form each y-pipe.

The cats on my car are connected directly to the manifold. My car would be fine without that bump on the passenger side but GM was to lazy to take it out.
