1996 lt1 Harmonic Balancer help
hi guy i just bought a Harmonic Balancer from jegs and the keyway on the crankshaft and the keyway on the balancer hub fits right but the hub is not at tdc it a 1:30 on a clock; is this ok

the balancer is a nuetral balance so i dont think it matters which way it is bolted on as long as it is bolted on... i know stock ones you just bolt on and torque down to the proper specifications... if thats a standard replacement it should be the same way i would imagine

just to clarify this is an lt1 you are talking about correct? i just saw that this was posted in the v6 forums, so it may be a reason you havent gotten a lot of hits on the answer ....
edit.. i believe the keyway is cut in some of them to give them a little more added stability in not spinning on the crankshaft .. but there arent any timing marks to go by on the crankshaft to be able to tell if it is at TDC or not with the way the ignition is set up and the fact that it is a neutral balance

it is a nuetral balance.. you wont have it break.. you can put it on whatever way you feel like to be honest with you, as long as the engine is balance properly and for a nuetral balance harmonic balancer you will not have any problems with it.. i have put that balancer on a friends car before and it went on just fine and he hasnt had any problems to date ...
