Post 1995 3.4 v6 options....

i've done some searching on here..but i've still got some questions....

i've got the K and N fipk generation II kit on my car...and i'm looking to add a new exhaust...and don't know if the magnaflow catback is worth the $400 extra rather than just have a magnaflow muffler installed? is there really that big of a difference...

i was looking at jetchip's and wondering if after i upgrade the exhaust...and get the stage 2 chip....how much would it actually do for me, and is it worth the money...

right now i'm so bummed out on getting the 3.4, i just want to get a new muffler and a shift kit, cuz it's kinda sluggish going into 3 and 4...and save my money for something else....like paying off the car

i won't be doing any racing....i just want some boost....any and all opinions are welcome....thanks...and great forum by the way!!!

I wouldn't worry about the chip form what I heard its no much of a gain, and its pretty freaking expensive.

I need have a stock z28 catback, sitting in my room waitng to be installed. The i-pipe has a half in. bigger I-pipe, and a I may or may not keep the muffler depends how it sounds and the power.

Either way I got it for free off of someone locally.

thats probable the cheapest route to go.

I'd do what the other guy suggested, then take that extra cash you would've spent on the catback and have a TransGo shift kit installed to make your 1-2, 2-3 shifts feel a little more firm. Maybe have a tranny cooler installed at the same time. You can also do the TB bypass for the hell of it since it'd cost you next to nothing. A set of underdrive pulleys also?

All of the mod's mentioned above would run you under 400 bucks easy.

Cool

To get rid of that flat spot from 25-35 mph,you need to open up the intake and exhaust.I had a free-flowing muffler installed right after I bought the car and I always thought "I have the muffler, why get a cat-back"?Anyway.the last year I owned my car I bought and installed a cat-back from a 1998 SS.That mod really surprised me.The normal "dead zone" that the 3.4 has was almost completely gone!Even my ex (still wife at the time) commented on the cars improved performance.I didn't even tell her I had done anything to the car.Anyway,a good shift kit ($100),underdrive pullies ($75),a take-off cat back ($50),and the free mods will get you a lot of performance gain. You won't be smoking V8's but you will be a lot happier with your ride!Good luck.

Try SLP ( www.slponline.com) They will have SS and WS6 take-off parts. Also, just so you know, they didn't make SS or WS6s until 96. But don't worry, any year take off cat back should work for your car. I used to have a 95 3.4L 5 speed Bird, so I know what you mean by sluggish in 3rd to 4th. The mods nikkev suggested should wake it up a bit.
