z28 vs R/T???

in couple of weeks, im going to race my friends' dodge stratus R/T. His car is a 2002, its basically a mitsubishi eclipse GTS with better suspension and brakes.

My car : 94 z28
LT1 w/ 6 speed manual
B&M short shift
BBK throttle body
Flowmasters (got leaks and rust)
roller rockers
k&n air filter
basically stock.

R/T
200 hp 3.0l with 5 speed manual
new racing clutch
has exhaust

----- i looked online and it said the R/T has 0-60 in 7.4 seconds and 1/4 mile of high 15s, but that car seems faster than that.
Who do you think will win? Is there anything I can do to my camaro to guarantee a win within 2 weeks? like any additives or thing you guys may have used? any help / comment is appreciated. thanks.

you should be able to take him unless your car has issues

hi myslowcamaro, the other day we were just messing around in the traffic, he was coming behind me, he punched it and i punched it in 2nd, and he passed by me, i started catching up the second i shifted in 3rd but then traffic stopped. Are the 2nd gears weak in LT1s or something?

My bro is a service writer at a chevy dealer and he gets it serviced every month or so, there should be no major issues with it.

Those cars are so slow I can't believe he wants to race you. They are 16 sec pieces. All show and no go.

he said he can take mustang GTs with no problem, and he said he only lost to an M3 since the day he got it. But then, almost any decent car can take a mustang gt

Unless he has a nitrous kit tucked away, I can't see him competing with you.

He might win stoplight to stoplight by surprising somebody or maybe they didn't know he was racing them. He would have to have the juice to beat a Z28 or a Mustang GT, even a 4.6GT, maybe could give a good run to an older 4.6 with auto and 2:73's.

Re: z28 vs R/T???

he only had clutch and exhaust as for mods, we work at the same place so I know his car. The only thing is that his car only has 30k miles on it and my lt1 has 116k. Does that make a huge difference?

Re: z28 vs R/T???

He probably pulled you when you were in second cuz you mighta been spinning your tires. Unless your plugs or wires are bad your car should easily beat a 16 sec. car. Theres a 93Z here that has 135k+ and runs consistant 14.0-14.1's. From 0-20 he might put 1/2-1 car on you due to traction but after that he will be seeing your taillights. If you learn how to launch your m6 he wont even be close to you.

yes! that is the problem im having, if i hit it in first and shift into 2nd, i just spin wheels like crazy, or if i shift into 2nd with low 1st gear rpms, the car just hesitates in acceleration. Is there like a peak rpm for lt1s to shift on?
That day when he past me in second gear, i had low rpms in second and he had me for the whole gear ( by a car length ).
