What Should I Expect

I have a friend who knows this kid with a 2003 Eclipse GTS he said its stock and beats LT1's all the time but cant hang with an LS1. He also said that the kid will prolly want to race me from a roll. I personally dont like to go from a roll becuase I like to do it the way its done at the drag strip. What will both outcomes be??

You'll have no problem taking him. The new body style eclipses are junk. They quit making real cars after the fall of DSM.

LOL... if it doesn't have a turbo on it then the outcome has already been decided.
Wt= 3241 lbs.
Hp= 210 @5750
Tq= 205 @3750
Not much of a race IMO.
Maybe he was talking about how he beats V6 Camaros every once in a while...

So if its an 03 then there is no way it came from the factory with a turbo right?? Is it just the v-6 then???

No Turbos for the 03 from the factory. It is a 3.0 liter 210hp 205lb-ft V-6. Same Engine and plat form as the Dodge Stratus R/T. Manual Eclipses are supposed to be low 7's and automatics are in the 8's. From and stop, from a roll trust me it wont matter. You should be able to beat him going in reverse.

The Best i have seen V-6 Eclipses (stock) run at the Moter Speedway is low 16's. But those were the 200hp ones but even so, that would put the 210 hp ones in the high 15's. There not fast cars by any means. My Friends girlfriend beat a 01 v-6 eclipse in her Saturn, Both cars with 2 people she beat him by about a foot.

I'm not even going to wish you luck in the race, you wont even need it

What does DSM stand for? I know Talons, Eclipses, and Lasers are labled as DSM, but don't know what it stands for.

If its a 2003 and stock its extremely slow,my cousin has one which I drove and i honestly dont think that thing could beat anything..put it this way 96-98 stock gts would make quick work of him...race him and slaughter him.

im pretty sure it stands for diamond star motors or something close to that. And yeah that v6 wont tough an lt1. there aren't even very many good mods for the v6 yet.

It is diamond star motors...i believe they were made up til 97 for the turbo fwd gst and awd gsx. The new eclipses are a waste of time to mod to make fast unless you drop a ton of cake into it, but the same goes for any other slow car
