What do u think, Me Vs. 2003 Mustang Mach1
Re: What do u think, Me Vs. 2003 Mustang Mach1
You guys should really listen to HardcoreRM125 and not give him a hard time. I mean, he posted this a couple of weeks ago about going to the track FOR THE 1ST TIME so don't doubt his expertise!! He knows way more about "cars/engines/trannys in general" THAN ALL OF YOU!!
Re: What do u think, Me Vs. 2003 Mustang Mach1
Uhmm Chris Stang, I've gone to the track before, I just never ran my car at the track. To me, its not fun spending 20$ to wait ALL NIGHT and MAYBE get 2 runs in. Yep sounds fun to me... I asked because I didnt know what launching on the track was like compared to launching on the street and I was supposed to go to the track with somebody.
Just because I dont take my car to the track obviously means that I dont know anything about building cars ... thats good reasoning. My dad has had several built big block cars, a few 5.0's, and I am always working on some project or another ... Every car we've had is a street car. Didnt want some trailer queen, track only car. But I guess since everything we had was streetable horsepower, I dont know anything
Since everyone else knows so much, WHO ELSE has drove BOTH a manual and auto 05' V8 Mustang ??? Thats what I thought ... So again, until somebody has experience with these, feel free to not post a reply. Been there done that. The auto's are dogs. Their hesistant, not responsive, and take forever to down shift ... It felt significantly weaker than the manual I was in. Both were bone stock, same condition. O but wait, since I never raced my car at the track, disregard everything I said.
It sucks paying 20$ for three passes, and waiting all night to hopefully actually get the 3 you paid for. I have out-launched (consistantly) my friends car that was cutting 1.9 60's everytime he took it out. This was on street tires. But I guess since I never ran my car at the track, I cant drive either right? God help me for asking if the track is a good bit sticker than the street before I go there. I guess asking makes me stupid right? I've seen you post your share of stupid **** ...

Re: What do u think, Me Vs. 2003 Mustang Mach1
i work at a dealer and i drove both the auto and manual mustangs. they were 2004s not 05s but there was a lot of difference. everyone laughed at me when i said a stratus r/t smoked an 04 mustang gt auto, but ive seen it happen because i was in the car. So auto does make lots of difference on many cars.
Re: What do u think, Me Vs. 2003 Mustang Mach1
I know it does ... But because it doesnt on F-Bodies, everybody is getting their panties in a bunch and taking offense to it when I said Auto Stangs (With few exceptions) are bitch cars ...

My buddy(he was there) told me that i just need to hit there ever week and make a few pass's and pratice.

I hate screwing with other guys posts, but this is what seems to happen in the Kills section and I can't stand seeing people spit out B.S. and try to back pedal out of it. So, sorry ahead of time.
Your first post did not say anything about F-Body or Mustang. Please be more specific next time. But I'm guessing you were truly putting all autos into the same category initially. Then when nobody but a new guy backed you up, you started back peddling. Nice try! But now you know.
About going to the track. If you enjoy going to the track to watch I'm pretty sure your paying at least $10 to get in. So if your there, why not pay $10 more and race safely and then hang out? Or are you one of those hard core street racers? I'm not preaching, I play on the street quite a bit, but when it comes down to it, I want a car that will give me lower E.T.s when I'm at the track were it really counts.
Sonofmoon, your E.T. isn't to far off from a stock LS1, it's just that your mph should be a tad higher. If it was hot and you were pretty much running it non-stop that would definitely rob some power. If the MACH 1 guy has never been to the track before, I would race there. It gives you a great benefit because most get nervous the first time at the track.

I burn rice too ~
It actually started out as a joke and someone took offense too it really. I didnt mean anything by it at first. But the more defensive everyone was getting over it, the more I am going to lay into it backing it up with solid facts. Auto Mustangs, from a performance standpoint, are at a significant set back from a manual. I admit, I did do some backpeddling lol.
I'm not a serious street racer ... Actually, most of the time I spend driving my car fast is with only me in the car, and not racing ... I dont want to hurt somebody else or be involved in big **** when someone I am racing crashes. There are very few "good" places by me to "street race" but there are a ton of curvy and sort of rural roads to fly on so ... Now thats not to say that I pass up every chance I get to race ... I do on occasion, but most of the time its not worth it. Not alot of fast cars around here anyways.
And you are kind of right about the track ... It was 8 or 10$ to get in I believe. I just didn't really have the desire to go back. At the time I didn't even have my car there. I road up with a friend, and decided that the 45 minute drive, 20$ to race, and 20$ in gas I'd burn wasnt really worth it. I'd be going by myself because none of my friends really have anything fast anymore except for one of them with a grand sport but ... We may go to the track sometime this summer and I will psot if I do.

Ok ok ... lol In all seriousness now ...
LBJ ~ If you are running 12.0's N/A, you are going to seriously put a hurting on that car.
To the origional poster ... It would definatly be a drivers race. They run mid-upper 13's from I have seen/read about them. It's all going to be in your launch ...

Do the Free ram air mod to your car and you will pick up a tenth or 2.
Mach are setup for the quarter form the factory. They have the gearing for it as well as a decent suspension setup. From a roll youd beat him but from a Stop with your times it will be a drivers race.
Where is the track located you ran your car at? Those times look slow for your mods.

I want to know how it truns out hard core now.. but we work for the same company just at differnt location's so its kind of hard to meet up for a race... we was talkin about hiting up some down in ILL, not far form Chi Town
