FYI- My 04 "land yacht" ran 13.3@104 before the mods....I know that's not mustang territory, but I was pretty impressed.

 

What are you talking about What did you forget that a shelby GT500 will destroy a stock LS1? And the new GT500KR will have 40 more hp. And dont forget that in 2000 ford had the cobra R which ran 12's stock N/A. Then theres the '03-'04 Cobras which *** rape every stock LS1 out there as well. Then theres the 650hp Saleen S281E that no one seems to mention. Its not a mustang but GM has nothing that can come close to touching the Saleen S7 which the new Twin turbo version will be rated at over 1000hp in bone stock trim. Z06 ,what?
I dont think the mustang guys have anything to worry about. You just got to get the right model but theres a huge aftermarket that just completly blows away the GM aftermarket. The mustang aftermarket is on par with the Honda aftermarket. There are so many possibillities in building a new mustang its unreal. If you dont beleive me pick up a MM&FF mag and look at all the ad's for different parts available.
But getting back on the topic. LT1 and 3V GT's are a drivers race and when you ad mods its who has the best combo.

 

everything Ford puts out with any kind of power as "bone stock" already has a turbo or blower. Can't say that about a Chevy.

 

Thats the direction Ford decided to go with. They decided on small V8 with low compression and a little boost for power. Whereas GM went with big cubic inches and high compression.
Both have their pro's and con's. Some people like big N/A power while some people like engines already set up with a blower/turbo and built to handle alot of boost. Where you can do a few upgrades and make insane power and still be streetable.
Try making a 800 hp N/A small block streetable.But everyone knows about 800-1000hp boosted cars that are streetable.
5.0 magizine made 800hp with a new GT500 with a blower upgrade and a few other mods.

I was under the impression that the GT500 was supposed to compete with the C6 Corvette. They run similar times, even though the 'vette has 100 less hp. The Ford GT and the C6 Z06 also seem to run really close even though th GT doubles the price tag.

I was also under the impression that the 03-04 Cobras were supposed to compete with the C5 Z06's.

And if youre going to add cars that nobody mentions, what of the '02 ZL-1 camaro. IIRC, it had an N/A LS-6 based 427 pushing 600hp. Granted only 3 particular version of that ZL-1 were produced and had a $90K price tag but what the hell.

Sorry to burst your bubble but Saleen is its own company. Saleen is to Mustang as Lingenfelter is to Corvette or Yenko is to Camaro. They just mod already manufactured cars.
