the newer gt's will have the edge but will not "kill" a lt1. i think the gt's run lower 13's whereas an lt1 is high 13's to 14

A 3v should win,but he has to feel like crap to lose to an lt1.

Ok..... So by winning a race by almost half a second in the 1/4 mile would not be a kill? They are just barely slower than a ls1. Most have been tuned from the factory with a economy driver in mind. A tuner alone can get these cars damn near 13.1-13.0. The LS1 yes is still faster!

EDIT: Did you see the times he posted in there? The MPH was like a 5.5 difference, that is huge if he could of hooked.

Yeah,it was a driver error, but goes to show no matter if your car is faster or not you can still lose.

That was still a fairly bad time for a LT1 as well, I did 13.9 stock in my old 95 Z28, and w/ an exhaust was up ato 13.7 although I was expecting more

Look at the times in my sig and see what a mildly modded 5.0 can do at the track...if driven right. I run a new GT and he pulled me hard. I think he pulled a 13.27 @ 103 with just gears and flowmasters.

I took my wife's bone stock Mustang out last night....

Traction was not happening....DA was 2300...

http://media.putfile.com/2006-Mustan...action-2300-DA

Car is running better and better...corrects to 106 mph...pretty good in my book.

newer GTs aren't anything to be worried about for a healthy lt1. lt1's came with nearly 300 hp, which is the same as the gt, and vehicle weights are nearly identical with the new gt heavier (over 3500 pounds). gt may have better gearing but the raw physics of the numbers hp/lb look very alike. race depends on health of the lt1, driver skill, and gearing.

An LT1 Camaro holds a slight edge over the 99-04 GT(275/285HP vs 260)...From my personal experience.
A properly driven 05-newer GT should beat a bone stock LT1.

SSlither...the new GT's make enough power to run low 13's. My wife's Mustang with some good weather with a good launch at a well hooking track I believe would be low 13's...

Plain and simple huh...you must the internet final word in regard to performance with the new GT's?

If you correct for weather you would find my wife's GT would be running 13.50@105.9 with a traction limited 2.14 60'. The car on a better track prep day cut a 2.06 60'...so I know the car can hook up better and I believe I can get a 2.00...maybe squeeze a high 1.9X 60'.

I know the car has 13.2's@106 in it.....bone stock.
