Thats one of those people that quote magazine times then figure since "X" brand says it makes 25 HP, with three or four combine each should make another 5 HP. So now he runs low 11's because hes got 25+25+25 plus 5 for each since they are combined, so now he has another 90 HP which drops your time by 3 seconds.

Yeah

I guess they figure its "only" 3 seconds...which doesnt really sound like much, but they are unaware that thousands of a second make a difference in racing. lol

Especially those import guys who quote those magazines...they are REALLY bad!.

A guy once told me he gained 90 HP from headers, CAI, and exhaust on his 1.6L 4cyl Honda.

OMG the nerve (actually they believe it, i think)

I told him the car only has 120 HP to start with. He said "yeah, but I reduced the backpressure and the CAI is kinda like a turbo"

damn, i didnt know what to say. I just went with it....lol should have been there

EDIT: Maybe we should stop just going with whatever they say and lay it down on them hard....tell them they are WRONG

Maybe if we all started doing that then they would start wising up. (They being not only ricers...chevy guys do that crap too)

Naw j/k that would take the fun outta surprising them.

my thoughts exactly. if my transmission wasnt on its last leg, i would have challeneged him right there, then after beating him, let him know that i only run mid 13s at best.

and my trans being beat isnt an excuse, it doesnt shift out of any gear unless i let off the gas all the way, then when i get back into it, it just revvs like its in neutral. i still woulda like to race him just to see what it had for the hell of it.

Gotta love it!!

Just got back from Texas on vacation. Riding around Huntsville,TX and I see a white Camaro with black racing stripes at a mom and pop dealership. I'm looking at it and its got $9500 on the windshield. This kid ( I guess the son) comes out and says it a 96 SS with 400 hp from the factory, it's a special edition 1 of only a few hundred were made blah, blah, etc. Funny thing.... true enough it had SS badges, but no scoop or SLP spoiler and had a single exhaust. I was weary at first, but then I asked to see under the hood and sure enough there was an LT1 ( thank God!) It was stock no headers, nothing!!! I said to the kid 400 from the factory huh? The kid stares at me and says says you see them two S's on the fender, that means " Street Special" !!

I **** you not guys!!! I said it means what???? He said it again!
I set him straight on the car being a Z28 being it had 2.73's
( according to the Vin #) and salad shooters. I told him I should report the dealership to the Better Business Bureau for lying to people about their cars, I look over my shoulder and there was an older Oldsmobile , so I said let me guess that cars got 488 hp because it's got 4 doors and Delta 88 on the trunk! My wife was rolling laughing! He didn't think it was funny!

Ever played the PS2 game Tokyo Extreme? It's the perfect "How to be a ricer" video game. Add a fart can, gain 35 hp. Put on an intake, another 40. Turbo it and there's another 200. Then you get into the weight side of everything. Add ground effects and the car looses weight. Add a wing, more weight lost. Add a roll bar and yet more weight is mystically gone. I ran into an idiot at a cruise in who had his civic all blinged out with TVs and a PS2 who was playing the game and said his car was that fast cause he had done the same mods. It was great.
