Squeezed & Swapped Civic STILL Couldn't Keep Up!!!

So I'm hanging out with some friends last night and the guy with the Civic I raced a couple of weeks ago rolls in. He said he finally got his bottle filled and wanted to try me out again. I was pretty tired and was getting ready to go home, but I said what the heck. Just before we get ready to go run, a good friend of mine pulled up with his new daily driver he got Sat., a '03 SVT Focus. Before he can hardly stop, the guy in the Civic is saying we should go 3 wide on the interstate. My buddy was like, "It's too early to mess around on there." So we go to a back/side road that we normally make runs on. The guy in the Civic wanted to run me first on spray, then run my buddy NA. So we head off.

The Civic and I are lined up and another buddy of mine flags. I pull off with moderate spin and pull about 2 cars or so from the start. Through 2nd I continue to pull and by the end of the race I'm about 4 cars out in front. We go to turn around and he rolls down his window like, "Hey man we gotta do that again. I spun and didn't get a chance to heat up my tires." I agree.

We get lined up again and he's just sitting there. I roll my window down, "Hey man, heat up your tires, burn 'em down, do whatever you gotta do. NO MORE EXUSES!" So while he's doing his pro stock burn out, I flip on a little G-Unit "Stunt 101" to add to the whole rice thing we've got going on here. We line up and the hands drop. I spin much more than I did the first run, all the way through 1st, and he leaves considerably better. He's right there with me through 1st. I click 2nd and begin to pull away. Halfway through 3rd I'm 2 cars out and it pretty much stayed that way through the finish.

He drives back around and lines up with the SVT. They leave and my buddy goes up in smoke through 1st and the Civic gets out in front. About halfway down my buddy starts catching up and is about dead even. Then you hear the engine pitch change from the Civic and it starts pulling away rather quickly. Hmm, I wonder??

Then my buddy in the SVT comes back around as we're getting ready to leave and asks me to give him one and the move for kicks and giggles. We line up and he leaves first. I catch him in 1st gear and putt about 4 on him by halfway through 3rd, and just let out.

Civic- b16 swap, header, cam gears/pullies, ECU tune, CAI, full exhaust, 75 shot.

SVT Focus- Bone stock

My ride- daily driven bone stock '04 Altima 3.5

Hopefully the guy in the Civic will leave me alone now...

The best run I've seen from the Civic at the track is a 15.2 NA and I HEARD hes been a mid 14 on the spray, but I don't know if I believe that after running him...

I believe the SVTs run like mid 15s???

Sounds about right for a Civic coupe probably an EX with a B16

CRX = 2000lbs
Civic coupe = 2500-2800lbs

You can see the difference in the weight/ET outcome

Good killls

When I was reading I assumed a B18C1 with 100shot aka 12.50's.....but reading more he probably had maybe 180whp at best with his spray and 125-130whp off the bottle Good runs...love the 3.5L cruiser

Well depends on which Civic (weight wise) and driver but a full interior civic coupe with a body kit and B16 is gonna get smoked by a CRX with a modded B16 even if the Coupe sprays....its all weight

Anything can happen so...

Actually, for the record, it's a 4dr. Don't know how much of a difference that makes in weight....

Traction not withstanding and if he sprays from the launch AND hooks up

Many variables....good driver...I would give the nod to the CRX

4 Door is the worst = YUK

Also forgot to add another variable.....displacement....a 75 shot on a B18C1 motor makes a sigificant amount more torque than on a B16 motor both of which come in 170 fly hp versions....the bigger motor rules....way more torque across the board...

He had pulleys, full exhaust, full intake, weight reduction, sticky tires, etc. That Civic sounds a lot slower than that CRX and he as a 75 shot? What gives?

Yea, its got to be a wieght issue. I would imagine the CRX's are quite a bit lighter. We've got a guy here locally with a CRX show car with tricked out everything. He's got a b18 with some internal work done and a 75 shot. Hes been a 12.5x on radials on gas and runs 13.0-teens NA. Obviously he has some traction issues, but I think those are decent ETs nonetheless....

Not bad ET's but with me driving the CRX with my motor in it I could hit high 12's all day...with bolt ons...with a small shot and slicks = 11's

Weight kills our cars...especially rear weight....the body kit, 18" wheels, stereo package CRX's are significantly slower than just a stock CRX with a C5 in it....which is why I HATE F&F....but whats new
