Ran an E46 M3 last night

Driving on 280N here last night around 10pm with my buddy heading back home. It was pretty desolate but I noticed a nice looking BMW on my right after awhile a few lanes over. It was the last M3 gen and was a dark blue, nice wheels, and some f'ing dark tint. Definently an eye-catcher.

The area we were in wasn't the best place to do a run, too many places for a cop to hideout, so I just cruised along with it for several miles. Finally we came up to a good area to go so I dropped it to fifth and brought it slowly up to around 90 to see if he would bite. Sure enough I saw him rolling along side me. I dropped it down another gear to 4th and with my cutout open he definently heard me do so. We were sided by side at this point so I slowly rolled the throttle on to initiate the run. Sure enough he hit it so I went WOT. I jumped and put about a half a car between my rear bumper and his. He managed to close it up a bit so he was sitting on my bumper at 140 but he wasn't going to pass so I shut down.

We roll along for a minute before we come up to another good area to go. He rolled along side at around 70mph and paced me. I beeped the horn three times and gave him the jump. Ran out third and fourth and he put about a half a car length on me at around 120 when we shut down after we came up on some other cars.

I gave him a thumbs up and pulled off the freeway with him following me. Came up to a stop sign and he rolled down the window and we each gave each other the obligatory "nice car/thumbs up" deal. Cool guy and a bad *** car.

Both runs we were both pretty even with the win going to whoever got on it first. I have a feeling that if I was alone (my buddy's pushing 260 lbs) I would have edged him out but it's run what you brung.

First worthwhile race I've had since I ran a c5 a few months ago, this time with that smae friend plus another guy in the backseat. That wasn't so close.

Yeah I keep telling the guy to lose some damn weight. i could care less about his health, it's just that he's hurting my win ratio

Hurts even more that the other driver was an asian fellow probaly around 150 lbs and he was alone. Oh well, like i said run what you brung. It just so happens I had brung a hell of a anchor with me.

Nice run. I've always wanted to run one. Should be a good race when if it ever happens, assuming he's stock.

Nice runs!

I have a feeling the results would have been identical without your buddy in the car. At those speeds the weight of the car matters much less than the air resistance. I would say a couple tenths for sure if it was from a dig, but from a 90 MPH roll I'm thinking it wouldn't matter. Either way, it sounds like you had a blast!
