Angry Probably getting ragged on

Not that I am upset about it but I have a gut feeling that my cousin's friend Tim is probably bragging to his ricer friends about his almost a victory.

It started when my cousin wanted to see how quick his 300zx was and wanted to race his friend tim who just got a 95 integra gsr, so i went to watch, and I wanted to race, which i shouldn't have because my water pump is going bad and one of my cylinders is misfiring.

anyways I wanted to race the gsr so we went from roll (20mph), I did the 3 honks and he jumps (he admitted to it) and he was up about 3-4 car lengths in front of me, it wasn't until i was almost at 90 did I pass him,

So I got to thinking, "If my car is 13.8 at the track, so they say, (never been tested), @ ~104, his car is either a low 14 sec car stock, usual ricer mods or my car is a 14 sec car with the problems, btw, did i do any harm to my motor running it the way it was?

Quick question for you bud.
Why on Gods Earth would you race your car with the engine experiencing potentially severe problems?

Im not ragging on you . but just curious why you would beat on your car like that.

cause i'm stupid, what harm did it do?
and the misfire has either gone away or i've gotten used to it, havn't had a chance to see what is the problem or replace the pump that is sitting in the garage, maybe tomarrow after i get out of job #2 and finish my home work, should I take my car to a mechanic, or can the job be done by a novice?

When you finally passed him were you pulling hard still or just creeping by? I wouldnt think that much about sometimes my car has trouble pulling intake headers catback 5.0 mustangs from 30 till abut 50 then it gets really bad and I fly past like nothing. It could have been the combinaion of him jumping it and your car not running at its peak that helped contribute to him holding you off for awhile or his car is just fast for a b18c1.

Sounds like me and a BMW "M" a couple of years ago.
My SHO LOVES to run above 100, so I thought it would be fun.
We were on the highway, rolling at 60. He wasted me to 80, at 90 I was catching him (I think he had to shift up a gear), by 110 I was passing him. We did this twice.

If the GSR was stock, I'd believe the race would be similar to your result. They are geared low enough that if you didn't cetch it out the hole (he jumped you) it would take you >80MPH speeds before your BHP can catch him. If you ran longer, it really wouldn't have been pretty!
