Old school Nova all show no go

While on my way home from work, cruising down HWY-90, I roll past a 71 Nova dressed out in old school muscle garb (Big tires out back, skinnies on front, traction bars, glass pack hanging down). I have my cruise control set to 70 so I pass him slowly and when I get a few cars ahead, he makes a jump for it and catches up. I look over and he is smiling and throws a rev to show off his sounds. I nod and shift down to fourth which is a great place for me to be at 70. I let him hit it first then I punch it. I let off at 110 and he was many buss lengths behind and not wanting to catch up. Nice car but all show and no go.

most old muscle cars were 14 second cars stock. nailed a 70 442, 68 big block camaro and a 70 lemans with headers (engine unknown) to name a few. the lemans was the best. the guy pulls up after the thrashing and askes with a confused look "whats that thing got in it" i was like "a 346 man" he was like WTF

Re: Old school Nova all show no go

Back in the early 70’s, I had a 1968 SS 396 Camaro, built to 550hp. It ran a best of 11.36 @ 126 at the El Paso dragway. My Ex-wife crashed it, which was the first time I realized she should be my ex-wife and I was right.
