New PB, bolt on LT1 car.
Second to the long tubes, the 1.6's were one of the best gains in performance I noticed. Lash them on the loose side and they are awesome. You would have to change springs to go with 1.7's and I can't speak to how much of a gain over 1.6's that you would see.
Thanks guys.
My car weighed 3420 with me in it last time I checked.
Are the 918's better than the LT4 springs for a weekend car? My goal for this car is to NOT become just a track car. I want to keep it as streetable as can be. I realize valve springs aren't going to make it not streetable but as far as wear and tear (since the LT4's are factory stuff) how often do they need checked. When referring to the lash. I had planned on doing the RR's and EWP over winter. Along with new brakes all around (been needing these for awhile) so I need a good project to get me by for awhile to pass the cold season.

918s are good and would be lighter than the LT4s but cost more.
LT4s can be had for $50, the 918s are $170ish and the hardware for them can be had for $150. Just depends on what you want to do.
If just running the stock cam and 1.6RRs then LT4s will be good. If you plan on running a larger cam SOON then go with the 918s but if it will be a while then you will replace the springs with the new cam...

With lash, I go just past quiet when adjusting, screw down the allen lock and then about 1/8 to 1/4 turn of the nut to lock it down.
And I agree with Shon, anything more than LT4 springs isn't necessary if you are just going to do 1.6's in the foreseeable future.
3420 with you in it? Wow, that is pretty light already! Mine was 3640 with me and a 1/4 tank of gas. I was never much for taking stuff out of the car though, only thing I removed was the spare and jack.

I love how everyone is always so skeptical if anyone has a good run with an LT1... if it's anything away from the norm then "there's no way" but if it's an LS1 and it breaks away from the norm then the reason becomes "it's an LS1, they have so much potential it probably did run 11's with just a lid"
Those cond. are awesome. My local track here is 1600ft.above sea level, i didn,t get a d.a reading when i ran my times. Those 6 spd. cars used to run 101 mph trap speed stk. so your mods can relate to what your running.I had my 94 down to 3490 wght. w/me in it by removing spare tire/jack ,other loose things like owners man. etc. Also ran w/1/4 tank fuel.
