Super Street is for high school kids who dream of adding clear tails to their 91 Accord. Super Tuner is for those who have already added clears to their 91 Accord and want some Nawws to finish the package. Only Turbo Magazine is actually concerned with real performance, and they've been around long before the days of the import fad. They cover import and domestic, as long as it's fast.
turbo magazine kicks major ***

hmm, does it all really matter? honestly I question every body stock to stock those cars are badass. But who cares what some mag. said. With a stock internal motor I laid it pretty bad to both cars, ok so i was running a 200 shot, big deal. The point is does it really matter what they ran?

How much of the Sti is actually Subaru?, I saw aftermarket names on it's parts...Factory Supercar???
There's just something wrong about making a 4-door into a sports car...Just can't grow on me, kinda like the "wheels sticking out past the car body fad". Can't wait for some reliability data after being driven a year or two as it was designed to be. I hope it fares better than the Subaru Brat I once owned..

As for the Stang being "Old School" I didn't understand that one either? 32 valves, 4cams, intercooler, roots blower, well maybe the blower...

The WRX/STi is not new; it's been out about 10 years. The only thing unproven is the STi's 2.5 liter engine vs. the old 2.0 they used in the WRX.

I assume the aftermarket names you saw were like "Brembo" and "BBS"? The Cobra has Brembo brakes too, and Manley rods. Automakers know what to build and what to buy.

If I had $35k in hand and was making the choice, I'd buy the Cobra. I'm more interested in a car's potential than in how quick it is off the showroom. The Cobra easily wins in the mod-for-the-buck comparison.

Turbo magazine used to "kick major @$$", now it just "sucks major @$$"...every 6mos or so they'll show a domestic build up, or new kit etc...it's a shame.. The imports had enough mags of their own, if they want to say they're unbiased keep it 50/50...

I guess it all comes back to the "Allmighty Dollar"....

according to motortrend mag the SVT Cobra gets to 60 in just 4.7 sec and does the quarter in 12.8 at 113.2 mph.

i think the hot rod driver didn't know how to drive a cobra

well, personally I don't mind import cars, but I hate the whole "fast and furious" rice thing thats been really taking off lately...taking a slow car and making it look like some sort of racecar alien love child, then claiming it runs 11's when in reality it wouldn't run 11's falling off a cliff.

That being said, when I go to the newstand to look at car magazines, theres a good 3-5:1 ratio of import magazines vs domestic magazines. I think Hot Rod needs to leave the import scene to the import magazines, theres plenty of them already.
