Thanks for the compliment. I ordered some 4.10's on Monday and a 125hp zex wet kit yesterday. That should do it for performance mods for at least 6 months, especially when the wife finds out.
There's nothing wrong with being happy about winning a race you were suppost to lose. Racing is quite different when you have 400+ hp and so does your opponent. The outcome can be determined by a missed gear, an over revved gear, a poor launch, no traction, rookie wheelman, etc. Every race that I lost, I had a good reason for losing (good reason to me). Every now and then I get my *** handed to me, which brings me back to reality. I just think some people get caught up in the whole mustangs suck/are slow, mustang drivers are bad, GM rocks 4-ever. I have always liked GM products and disliked Fords. When I got tired of dumping $$ in my T/A (LT1) and decided I have changed my last optispark, I was in search of a new sports car. Options were 04 GTO, Mach 1, 05 GT, and maybe an 02 SS. I had to have a backseat (wifes only request). The choice seemed easy to me after driving the Mach and getting a steal.

Just about any pre-05 GT, w/the 2 valve are a joke stock. The 03-04 Cobras where out of my $ range. I liked the feel of the M6 GTO and loved the interior but the exterior was unbearable. The 05 GT's could not be received until late Feb.(this was NOV.) If I could've found a clean SS with low miles, and a good price I probably would have bought it.

I have respect for all cars that are fast or made fast. I also believe that someone will always be faster....whether it's a GM,Ford, or a Dodge. End rant!

The Mustang accelerates, obviously trying to get in front of me before I pass the semi. I drop it to 4th gear and get into it, not even full throttle, to about 90. The Mustang can almost keep up. He falls in behind me, following closely. Evidently, he thinks it's a close race. Then again, he probably doesn't know I could have grabbed 3rd at that speed. We get caught up in traffic and slow back down to 75. So, when traffic clears, I decide to show him what 3rd gear is like in an M6 LS1. I drop the hammer and walk away. Shifted to 4th at redline and ran it up to 110 or so before letting her coast back down to 75 and watching the Mustang do a ricer flyby.

My wife was in the car, cheering me on.
I would love to race a stock SS. I like to see how slow those things really are

Re: Mustangs are slow!

Come on, you guys, it's a kill story. It happened as I described. Just because some other car, made in some other year, and possibly modified by somebody else, would have beat me, doesn't detract from the fact that my car is quite a bit faster than a stock 94-98 V8 Mustang.

Fine, so it was an easy kill. As soon as I come up against an '03-04 Cobra, I'll post another kill story, whether it's him or me getting killed. In the meantime, I post the stories I have. Do you want me to make up stories about encounters with cars more closely matched to mine, and then post those? I could do that.

I never said you didn't win. I merely commented on your immature title for the thread. I'm was not offended, but it appears silly considering the car you raced and how little you actually know about "Mustangs". I see titles similiar that are posted as a "play on words". Ex. Killed a snake,Cobra proves to be Non-letal, etc. Reading "Mustangs are Slow" seems elementary.

What is it like hitting Warp 10....you raced an automatic V6 stang...admit it.
You should not say things like that on an Fbody site. It's against the team rules and spirit hahahaha....

Wow this is coming from a guy who runs 13's. I have to say I'm very impressed with the ignorance on this board

Some 4V 4.6s have surpassed 1400hp using the factory block and cobra crank (it isn't hard to swap 4V heads into a 2V engine, btw). With builds using the 4V 5.4L engine coming along, more impressive numbers are sure to follow. I used to be a modular basher, but since the racing world started to warm up to them and show their potential, i've taken a liking to them. Neat little engines... sort of a modern LT5, so to speak. And they just sound so damn good too.
Jason,
Absolutely stellar post and thanks for the props. Like you, I was a die hard pushrod fan for many years, however, these little modular engines continue to impress me sspecially considering the small cubes. I have a very close friend that has run 9.0@152 through a 2V (drag radial class/blower class) so I know they are very capable. He is shooting for 7's (yes 7's in the quarter mile hahaha) next year with new turbo and new setup. I can't wait to watch him amaze folks.

Take care,
Tim

Now your reaching ... A fair comparison is the 96-97 ss/ws6 vs the cobra...**** if thats the case lets bring the 351 Saleens in the mix...see how they do against the LT4
