I've got a set of BFG drag radials for the GN, but the opportunity to go to the track came at a time when I couldn't get to them without a lot of extra driving. Previous owner ran a 12.9 with those and 108 octane. I did my runs on 93 octane and street tires (I have chips for 87, 93, and 108). Haven't had the thing long enough to go to the track more than that one time. Looking forward to next year!

I have never lost to a 2v GT. And I know what the difference in looks is between the 98's-99's. They have been modded with gears, cai, catback whatever I have beat them all. I am not saying that my car is faster than all GT's, some that I raced were close, like a car kinda close. But they were all behind in the end. I have even whoped up on the older cobras. I would give the nod to the LT1, Not the GT's. Especially if its a m6 LT1.
M6 LT1>m5 99+ GT
M6 LT1> A4 GT
M5 GT> A4 LT1 (most of them)
A4 LT1> A4 GT
But you can think what you want. Im just throwing in my .02

ive raced 99GT, 02GT convert, 04GT and others and they werent automatic and it wasnt even close to dead even.

I've raced an M5 '99-'04 GT and beat him. I didn't exactly wipe the street with him but I did come out on top.

The third car in the pics is my father in law's 1970 Buick GSX. At the moment, he's almost as fast as I am, but when he gets his fuel and air systems figured out and stops starving the 462 in the higher rev range, we're expecting low 12's on street tires, and maybe 11's with slicks.

2v GT's are horrible, no matter what year, and without some sort of power adder they are more than likely not keeping up. I know a couple of guys that got a 99+ to go a 13.9 all stock, but they are the same guys who drive like maniacs! They broke several trannys getting those runs in. Now the 3v cars aren't much better on the stock tune, havent had a problem with one yet.

I am inclined to agree. I've raced M5 GTs from a roll, and I haven't lost yet. At the track all the mustang GTs were running 14.2-14.5s, where as I ran a 14 flat. However it was 101 degrees outside that day supposedly everyone was running awful that day. I can't wait to see my times with the headers, and cold weather.

I have no problem there either Antz... 96-98 Cobras are okay, but I have never seen a stock one run better than a 14.0 around here, and that was on full out slicks.. not worried there bud.

Granted I do not own a GT or Cobra , but my little 4 valve ran 13.30s on stock tires first time she went to the track stock. Once a few mods/stock weight/slicks were added now Im bumping 11s
The LT1 is and forever will be a classic design that is definately a force to not be taken lightly. Now having said that, you gotta come to face reality and not believe Mustangs are as slow as you indicate.
On the same topic of the regular ole GT 2V. I owned a 2001 nicknamed Casper that went 13.93 @ 100 mph on its first stock run and backed that up with a 13.96 @ 100 as well. Many of the older guys that come on this forum could vouch that the times are exactly as shown.
I guess it all boils down to pride and the points of views from people who only own and drive a particular make.
Last month I saw two (not one , but two) LS1s stage beside each other and ran an amazing 13.97 left lane to a 14.58 right lane. Does this mean all LS1s are slow POS cars? Hell no, It means you better get the idiots out from behind the wheel before they hurt someone.
