I've had folks in minivans and beater cars try to race me. Some people never learn. They get a new car and think it's the fastest thing on the road. Especially ones with new nissans (z, altima, etc.). I just think its fun wasting brand new cars.

And I think a lot of older people think that the newer camaros are slower than the 3rd gens. That's too bad, they missed out on some nice cars...

Absolutely! I walked a suit wearing yuppie in a Lexus SC400 in my old Stang. He turned off with his tail between his legs. Fun stuff.

I seriously doubt that. I think top fuel dragsters run something like 55 psi.

This brings up an interesting thing. I thought desiels had about 20 to 1 compression + boost, from the factory. Detonation? How do they get away with this? Is desiel super high octane?

Well I'm not sure about the chemical differences between diesel and gas, but I do know diesel combusts at higher temps, so I guess you could say it is higher octane.

some people are just plain stupid or ignorant. I agree with another post about you racing him in one of his faster cars.

Do your self a favor and do some basic mods to your LS-1 and get that hp up another 20 or so! (catback and lid). I would do this at the very least. Every little bit helps.

Good kill!

I also saw that vid of the turbo diesel truck run. Damn impressive!

Yes they do have 20-1, 19-1 cr and can still safetly run 35-50psi of boost. Detonation is the preignition of fuel which is something that disel fuel really doesnt do. Disels run glow plugs instead of spark plugs just to even fire off the mixture. It takes disel fuel a lot of pressure to create heat to make the mixture combustable. Without extreme pressure you can put a cigarrette out in disel. Fuel on the other hand is extremelly explosive even at a low 10-1 cr

I dont know about powerstrokes but there is a program modification out there for GM's duramax diesel that puts 890 lb/ft torque to the rear wheels. The truck it was developed on ran a 12.784@106.098. Check it out here http://www.ttspowersystems.com/

Thats pretty sweet...but i still doubt that on the highway..that thing would keep up with an LS1...on a long *** highway...aerodyamics, and what not come into play..obviously...and even if that truck had 2.73's like my car..he redlines at like, what?? 3700 RPM?? So his top end isnt gonna be all that impressive. But damn..talk about a fun truck..haul the dirtbikes around..and still run 12's..god bless america....

There was more done to that truck to get it to run in the 12's. Adding up the cost, it looks like it would be close to $3000 total for what was done.
Power Loader: $895
Trans Upgrade: $495
Torque Converter: $1050
Stainless Steel Catback: $?? Guessing $500

So that's close to $3000.
You can tell that the truck is getting that time mostly from traction considering that it only traps at 106 mph.

Just goes to show that anything can be made fast.

A stock LS1 would be a good run against that truck from a roll because they both trap in the same speed range, with the truck maybe trapping a little faster than a stock LS1.
