okay id bet the reason for that is because the LT1's peak tourqe at like 2500-3500 and Ls1's are higher, Lt1's are a lil harder to launch......give the Lt1 and Ls1 both Drs and the Lt1 should cut a lower 60' ......just let it get traction.

with that aside yea i can see it being easier for Ls1's to get out of the hole a lil bit easier

i agree to an extent, by that i mean that the LT1's peak torque is quicker than the LS1 but i have owned two LT1's and the LS1 has more torque and from my experience on similar tires the LS1 is spinning the tires more on the launch. bottom line LS1 305hp 335tq. LT1 (97) 285hp, 325tq. do the math bla bla the LT1 feels torquier if that is a word but in a race, feeling like you won isint always winning.

... LT1 vs. LS1 ...

...what a funny thought!?

I've seen first hand where LS1's clearly beat LT1's.
I've also seen first hand where stock LT1's have beaten stock LS1's.

I say in ~95+% of the time where LS1's lose to LT1's, it's driver error, not lacking power (and/or, maybe a little bit of an exceptional driver in the LT1).

You can't compare an LT1 against an LS1 going UP HILL without having ALL the variables the same ... for example, if the LT1 has better gearing over the LS1, it will have an obvious advantage. Maybe the cars are setup for 1/4 mile racing, but things are different on the streets, and the LT1's might hold a lead if they get a better start up the hill than the LS1's (based on gearing, gears, converters, etc...)

...I say if you had 2 cars with the exact same driveline setup, with the ONLY difference being the engine, the LS1 should still pull ahead. Power is power.

My 99 Firehawk did 13.1 bone stock with just 3.73's. Thing was a beast.

Re: Lt1 vs LS1

From my experience at the track, I've found that I can easily take an LS1 to the 1/8th mile without breaking a sweat. It's the rest of the race where I get worried and eventually get passed. However, I enever went to the track when my car was stock, and most of the LS1's I have raced have been stock. I've raced 7-8 different LS1's all at a track, some with mods similar to mine and some without. The ones with mods similar to my own would be dead even up until about 3rd gear, and then they pass me up and usually win by .4 - .6 tenths of a second. The stock ones or ones without as many mods, and usually the Auto's, don't catch up in time. I put 4-5 cars on them in the 1/8th and it usually stays that way til the end, or they will start pulling but not in time for the 1/4 mile.

Without a doubt the LS1 is a powerful engine. But I don't understand why everyone is SO in bed with them. They are faster for sure, but not by enough to completely disregard the LT1 as a crap motor, like alot of people seem to do here.

EDIT: BTW, as you can see from my time in the sig, I can't hook/drive worth a ****, hence the high trap but slower ET. That might have something to do with my experience with LS1's.

This thread is retarded. I can see newbiewar is still a tool, not much has changed around here. Good race to the original poster.

LS1>LT1

End of story.

Yea man, you never will have to worry about that crap motor anywhere else, just up hill cause it'll take u every time

Heh, I donno man, I'm just saying street races... I've been owned by an ls1 vette, (down on ramp), I dont know what I said before, and i dont really care to look, but I haven't much experiance with ls1 racing, one race, and I was talking about my best friends modded lt1 vrs his sisters slightly modded ls1... and he takes her in 1/8 mile and she takes him in 1/4 mile...

granted the ls1 will always win, like the authour above said, its not a crappy motor, hence the fastest 4th gen naturally asperated is a LT1 (kind of)
anywho laugh at me all u want, cause I love to make people laugh.

Couldn't have said it better. LS1s are without a doubt faster stock for stock. I don't have any problems admitting that at all, and LT1 owners who try to deny it are just being a$$holes. My problem is with LS1 owners who regard the LT1 as a P.O.S. totally unworthy of their respect. Dammit, my LT1 may not be able to beat an LS1, but it is an excellent engine in its own right and puts up a very respectable fight. Instead of starting up these petty arguments all the time, we should all just be proud to be F-Body owners.

i agree, and not to mention the fact that most ls1 owners probably owned an lt1 previously and thought it was hot **** at the time...

Went from a couple speeds, but mostly from a 45-50 roll. We were about dead even from 45-100, stopping at 100. I think had we gone a bit further he would have put a car on me. We are waiting until we can hit the dragstrip to find out my real gains. Just thought I would share
