LT1 vs Cobalt SS vs LS1

On the way home from the track yesterday (why does it seem that more racing happens to/from the track than on the track??), my buddy with a cobalt SS wanted to run me from a 3rd gear roll, which he claims is his sweet spot. He has intake, exhaust, tuning and smaller 2.7" pulley (20 psi boost). I tell him on 3 honks, and as soon as I hit my horn once, he takes off already!!

I chase and catch him by the top of third and pull steadily in 4th. He asks me for one more go, so I oblige. He jumps me again, but this time on the 2nd honk - there seems to be a trend going on here Again, the same result: catch him and 3rd and put some lengths on in 4th. But I decided to really drive the point home and jam it a bit in 5th to put some bus lengths here.

LT1 comes out victorious on this one. Now on to the bad news....

My other friend has a 2000 z28 with basically the same mods as me: intake, headers, exhaust and nitrous, but he also has 3.73 gears while I am on 3.42's.
We did one run with me on the nitrous and him n/a and I started to walk him as soon as the juice kicked in. Next, we did a run with both of us using the nitrous. I was only losing by a length in 3rd gear, but after that.. it was gooooood night. I've only run 115mph traps on my 100 shot - he ran 121.5!!!!

He ran 13.8 @ 104-105 if I recall correctly. Traction is not his friend

Intake, mac mids, magnaflow and 100 shot. On the same day, I ran 104 mph n/a. I think I have the potential to get a few more mph b/c I was was spraying from 2nd gear onwards on a conservative setting (rich jetting and 3 degrees timing retard, 3500 rpm start window). This was my first time spraying at the track so I wanted to be safe rather than sorry!

Re: LT1 vs Cobalt SS vs LS1

The et's are very embarassing!!!!! However, in our weak defense, we have suspension setups more for road racing (i.e. stiffened, lowered, w/ road race tires). All the same.. the et's suck for the mph.

The LS1 ran 12.9 @ 111 mph (2.0 60 ft) n/a on 18" C5 rims. On the 100 shot, he ran 12.2 @ 121.

My times:
(n/a) / spray
60 ft ---- 2.1929 / 2.2979
330 ft ---- 5.93 / 5.9202
1/8 ---- 8.9861 / 8.7320
1/4 ---- 13.7090 / 13.0269
mph ---- 103.93 / 115.12
