LT1 conv vs GT
Just got my 96 TA A4 a few days back. The only mod i have so far is a borla exaust. The only set back is that my car is a convertable. My tires are bald as **** soi cant launch her but anyhow my question was. If i was to race a 99 up GT from a role would i still be able to pull on it.
I already raced my friends GSX witch is faster then his S2K and we were dead even untill 100, the the v8 just pulled.

dose the Conv really set it back as bad from a stop as a role. from a role it seemed to pull really nice. cant tell from a stop b/c my tires
quick side question. how much wheel HP dose a borla exuast add. i just get told all the time that Convs are slow. ive drivin both a coup and conv. dosent seem to be a noticible difference.

With the following mods my 94 LT1 made 270 RWHP:
Borla catback
Cold Air Induction (ramair)
mail order tune
I just installed SLP headers and a MSD Blaster coil. I'm hoping for 285 RWHP next run. I have a six speed car, btw.

what would i need to break into mid/ low 13s.Would full bolt ons do the job? Everybody on this side of town dosent mod there car. they just get a exaust and some cool rims and think their ride is "da ****" its about 50% Mustangs and all the rest is rice.

Do what I did, put a super-charger on it & a different gear. I am running around 450 horse, now, & I smoke almost everything! My next-door neighbor's '06 GTO lost by three cars from 0-100 mph, & the 400 hp GTO's are NOT dogs!

Everything in my signiture will get you in the low to mid 13's. Put some sticky tires on and you will be in the very low 13's.

I think if your both good drivers you'll beat him but only by about half a car. when my car had exhaust only I raced a 99 gt I had me and 2 other people in my car and the gt had just 2 people in it. we both had good takeoffs I never start from a roll though my car didn't have any problems with traction with the stock 2:73's and street tires and honestly you couldn't tell who won it was that close. I was running approximately 14.00 when stock and the 99 gt was supposed to do that stock too. good luck

Oh BTW, I ran a '97or8 GT on the street one night. He came flying up beside me in my '94 convertible, racking off his pipes, & being a general nuisance (typical Ford driver- I say). Then he got ahead of me & came to a stoplight. When I pulled up beside him, the light turned green & even though I had the g.friend in the car, I let him have it! I pulled two cars on him, easy! Looked down & was rolling 75 mph & shut it down...IMO let 'im have it! My convertible was stock except the K&N cai, his GT obviously was NOT... He wasn't gaining at 75, so he wasn't going to. Go get you some!

96-98 gts are dogs with stock heads lol.. shoulda put more then 2 cars on him.
but yea a lot of you guys underestimate the 99-04 gt's.
you all must encounter ****ty drivers, or ****ty stangs lol.
when i had my 95 trans am with mods. and gears. it would be a damn good race.
now i went back to a 99 gt vert, 5 speed 4.10 gears, o/r xpipe, catback, and mail order tune. i race my brothers 2000 ws6 t/a M6 witha flowmaster catback. i usally pull a fender to a half of a car on him to the top of 4th gear when i run out of gear"6000 rpm limit" he passes me. but thats a giving with the 4.10s and going into 5th lol. and yes he is a good driver. and the car has a good tune up and what not.. from 2nd gear roll, 3rd gear roll, 4th gear roll, doesnt matter. im usally about a fender a head..
i give the edge actually to the gt. 14.0-14.4 is the norm for bone stock 5 speed 99-04 gt's "hard tops and verts, i know from experiance
