Sorry its been a while since I have posted so bear with me guys….

I am cruising along in town and come to a light. Light goes green so I get my torqueless wonder up to speed in first with a little ruckus and then shift to fourth and ease back into the throttle doing about 35….when low and behold an LT1 caprice attempts a flyby…I was already in a crappy mood because of the cold weather so I drop into second gear and gun it from about 40….I pull even with him to the top of second and we are coming up on traffic so I back off and let him get in front of me.

The next thing I know he has his line lock on and is peeling out with traffic around us….I get a good laugh and give him a few revs just so he can hear 8600 rpm a few times…the light goes green and we cruise across the intersection and he signals for the on ramp.

As we are getting on a geo metro cuts me off and gets between me and the caprice…he notices and slows up as he is merging on. We finally make our way onto the highway and this poor 300lb woman in the geo has to hear me hit VTEC as I change lanes to catch up with the caprice…he is waiting for me doing about 50 up ahead so with the highway clear and the two cars lined up he rolls his windows down and motions for three honks. I honk three times with the car already in 3rd…..I hit the third honk and slam the gas…car buzzes its way to redline, shift light goes off and I grab 4th…I stay in it to make sure I am in front and look back to see the caprice well behind but still coming…we do it again with the same results and he pulls up as I slow down to 70, gives me a thumbs up and we head for an exit.

I pull behind him and we are cruising at about 30 and I am waiting for him to pull into a gas station or restaurant…but he never does. So I say oh well and flip a U and chuckle at the line-lock shananigins earlier…kinda fun to see white smoke on the street LMFAO

I was surprised I pulled on him like that, especially from a roll but I am figuring it was an A4 with just an exhaust or something…nothing major I would imagine, but it was fun to actually get a clean run in with a stranger AND a thumbs up from a domestic guy I hadn’t met before.

Then a couple days ago I made the mistake of going from a 40 roll “for fun” with my buddies mod’d Supra….I pulled maybe a car from 40-80 and then he flew by me like a freight train….geeeeze those things are roll monsters. To console me they said I hung better than a modd’d 350z he had killed a few days prior….but seeing a 3600lb car fly away is pretty awesome…Ive run some modded WS6’s and this Supra pulled me wayyy harder than anything I have ever come up against…kinda depressing than I realize a lightly modded supra may only put down 350-450whp….I can make that with a 2300lb car …kinda uplifting…but how much $$$...back to depressing

So to sum it up…I need boost…REALLY bad….but I kinda like hearing the motor…facts of life I guess…..anybody have a spare 60-1 laying around the house?

I run 12.9's UNCORRECTED at a high elevation track NA on street tires....

God forbid I hit the juice.

We could make a couple of runs and you could enjoy watching my 13" tires lay down patches of rubber in front of your car.

 

Winter here has SUCKED so no really interesting kills. Friends all have new rides and I am stuck with the only NA car in the group

Now I have to go turbo just to keep up....and here I was trying to save money for a house

I dunno I wanted to keep this block and head combo fairly stock and run high 12's NA on streets....but its getting to be pretty boring...plus I hate getting pulled by cars with higher traps...

So I will probably end up sleeving this block going 84mm on the bore (1.9XL) and dropping forged pistons and rods...then I have to buy a GT66 turbo, and intercooler, and piping, and my standalone and injectors and blah blah blah

Its too much money for me to even want to think about. So I figure step by step. So I am going to pick up an AEM EMS for my birthday and get the UEGO controller to monitor real time A/F....I should be able to tune my current setup a little better and pick up maybe 5hp here and there and save on some gas money too.

I am going to the desert in the summer so I cant race this season and after that I am hoping to go to Korea for about 15-20mos

So my car will be down for a while....might as well use the time wisely ya know.

But after I come back from Korea and the motor is done I am shooting for 450-475whp on a conservative tune....no more than maybe 20-22psi just a solid street tune to have fun with....more importantly 120+mph traps....I can finally run some cars worth racing and even if I lose the competition will be fun watching lol

This 18yr old girl asked me how much I have spent on my car the other day (she wanted to build her 94 4 door civic) and after I told her all that is associated with making a Honda fast I told her to buy something else to go fast lol

 

That '98 Supra is a turbo version? Those things are wicked with a few cheap mods. Expensive to buy and hard to find, though. That 350z has forced induction?

Tell her to get a Fox body Stang to go fast for cheap. That's one of the cheapest platforms to go fast in.

 

What was the point of this reply? It's not like he said all Caprices are slow and that he can beat everyone. I swear some of you breed so much ignorance. Whatever happened to just saying, "Good Kill."

Welcome back Serg. Even though we always haven't seen eye-to-eye, you do bring an informative mind to the flame wars. Just stay away from economics next time, ok? Oh and nice kill/death.

 

98 is turbo and yes even with basic mods its pretty quick

The 350z is mod'd but no FI yet...I stress YET lol

Buddy of mine has a Fox for sale...I am tempted to buy it and drop a 5.0L in it.....just for fun...but dont feel like studying Fox bodies right now...its tempting though...buddy says "Oh like 6 for a motor." I am like 6G's? "No way...like 600" I wish VTEC motors were that cheap.

Oracle...Air Force...I will be able to make some REALLY good money overseas so I wanna go over there save some money and buy a house, build my motor and have a little fun when I go home to California.

I get out in April of 2006 and although it seems far off....time seems to fly by so I have to plan now so I can get out comfortably.

I may just have to take a trip to Woodburn and run some sea level times to shut the haters up Road trip would be kinda fun though

I will try to hang out more...kinda busy with deployments but its fun reading about the kills in here...I swear getting a good laugh is worth the "why do you race a civic" posts LMFAO

Don't worry about the haters. I bet they have never dealt with this crappy high elevation sh** that you and I have. I took my car up to 8900' elevation and floored it, before. Talk about a power loss. I've run my car at 4000 feet and at sea level. The NHRA corrections are right on. I run a 14.8 at 96 at 4000 feet and a 14.0 at 101 at sea level. It is fun at sea level, though. Lots of power and wheelspin!

 

Yeah, I love going home on vacation....I take off like I normally do from a light up here and I spin the wheels oops

Woodburn should be fun....I was going to go last year for an NHRA Sport Compact event but I had to work a "war game" exercise here....but hopefully I can compete this year at that race and take home a Wally in the bracket class

You need some tires Steve....101 traps can net you some deeper ET's with a better 60'....but I know steppin to slicks has me worried about diff/tranny combo lol

 

Look at my sig. I have 255/50R16 BFG drag radials sitting in the garage. Next time I go to the timed track I will get some new numbers. That may be a while though. I have to drive 2.5 hours each way to get sea level #s or 1.2 hours each way to get 4000' #s. I have a nice grudge racing track 30 minutes each way but they don't have times .

 

Twin Turbo, heh I wish. No it's going pretty tame right now, nothing huge in the works. Speed costs money and unfortunately I don't have any. I may try to pick up a set of LT Headers/Y-Pipe with some tax return dollars, but right now the ultimate goal is saving up to buy a winter beater... this car just can not handle anymore winters, I got stuck multiple times just trying to get out of my parking space.

Did you ever consider selling your car and buying a turbo car? Maybe an EVO VIII or a turboed Honda/Acura? Some of those cars are really laying the smack down on some unsuspecting "american muscle cars".

This is why I am installing my cheater kit on my chevelle !!!
