LT1 beats LS1
Re: LT1 beats LS1
I have raced 2 LS1 camaros. One, a stock,02, red SS, we ended up at a light and when the light went green, we both were off. By the time I hit the top of third, I was about a half a car ahead and slowing down for the next light. I guess you could call this a win
. The second was a 98 Z28 belonging to my neighbor, it has Flowmaster exhost and home made CAI. We raced from a stop and again I was about a half a car until 4th when he started to pull. We were side by side when we backed off. No win But lots of fun.

He made the turn ahead of me and i got just about even when we hit it. I had pulled probably 2-3 cars by 80-85 and then i stopped. We talked for a minute thats how i knew what he had, couple of young kids probably just got the car, then i turned around and went back to where i was goin. Only thing i wasnt too thrilled with was the passenger was video taping the race. I dont think he got the result he was hoping for when he pulled the camera.
Good driver kill though.

95 Z28 3" Flowmaster pipes, Borla XR1 muffler, CAI, pullies, 52mm TB, 4:10s, hardend axels, Ripper shifter, Spec Stage 2, aluminum driveshaft, Pro Kit, Bilsteins, SFC's, 1:6 rockers, hardend pushrods, BMR Tubular Control Arms, gutted, tuned, MSD dig 6, NX 100 shot, 10 Spoke SS rims, Nittos.
There is a copy of your mod list. Lets break this down so you can see that I'm not F*****g kidding you.
95 LT1 M6 Bone stock is good for 260 rwhp and well driven will run about a 13.9 @ 101. Now lets look at what you have done power wise. Pipes and muffler is a good start but your stock manifold is still choking you (you really need to put some LT's on that thing). But lets say you gained 10 rwhp from the exhaust work. CAI is good for 8 rwhp so your now up to 278. You have got some nice suspension work and Nittos but for a 10 mph roll race they were not a factor as traction was not an issue. The TB isn't gonna add any significant power but lets call it 5 rwhp. Now we are at 282. The N20 is huge but not a factor since you didn't spray. Clutch and shifter are good for driver mods but not power obviously. The 4.10's are big though and would account for some gain.
But lets be realistic here. Without heads, cam or headers your still under 300 rwhp when not on the spray. I figure your probably gonna run a low 13 right now (maybe high 12's depending on how much "reduction" is done) and probably trap around 105-107. I don't think any of my estimations are unreasonable.
Now lets look at a M6 LS1 for a moment. Bone stock they are good for 300 RWHP and well driven would be a 13.1 @ 107. Now add 10 rwhp for the lid and another 10 for the loudmouth. That's pushing him to 320 rwhp. Traction again wasn't an issue so his stock rubber didn't hurt him any but the 3.42 gears did give you a slight advantage there.
I estimate if well driven his car is capable of a 12.8 @ 109. Your car should be about the same but trapping a little less due to you giving up approximately 38 rwhp to him. The gears and reduction makes up for most of that but your still lacking a few MPH in the trap so down low the race is competitive but after 80 the LS1 starts to walk away.
You beat the driver and that's great. Good kill. But if you really want to destroy LS1's off the spray then you really should invest in some LT's and a nice cam. Then even Evan Smith wouldn't be able to touch you in a LS1 without a decent mod list of his own.
Good luck with your car, Good Kill and don't buy shorties. Get long tubes and never look back.

Oh and I doubt I'll be in Virginia any time soon but if you are ever headed to NY for any reason then send me a PM. I'll race you at the local 1/4 mile strip and even if we don't get to line up side by side we can still compare the slips. After the racing is done the wings and beer are on me (assuming your over 21
I have a TCI SSF3500 and MT DR's waiting in my garage for spring so it would be a very good race indeed!

Re: LT1 beats LS1
You are missing a lot of what I had done. The computer tune was a big differance, ask anyone how they like their PCMforless tune. The MSD made a differance. The 1:6 rockers are a big differance, but I dont really have to prove anything to you or this board about what my car can do. And traction is an issue for me especially from a roll because when I hit it i get a lot of wheel hop. If I launch it I can at least get the nittos to hook and dont light second up when I shift as I do when I go from a roll. Ive ridden in a stock LS1 Vette with a 6spd, I can tell my car is faster. But think what you want to think, I dont really give a ****. Btw, shorties are going on this time around, then when the motor gets built and stroked to a 383 then Ill put longtubes on. For now I just dont wanna mess with jackin up the motor and all the other pains in the *** longtubes give you.

Come on guys, what is so rediculous about a bolt on, geared, nitto'd z28 beating a stock ls1. For anyone who says he doesnt have headers, hes got 1.6 RR's. Same difference.

Re: LT1 beats LS1
Good luck with the shorties. I stand by all my previous statements. ET wise your right with his slightly modded LS1 but trap wise he should have a slight advantage. Well NA anyway.
Re: LT1 beats LS1
Its irregardless if that LS1 still flows better at 85+ then my car because I dont care if it does or not he is not going to close the 2-3 car gap that I already opened on him and pass me. Ive seen first hand by racing an LS1 SS a few years ago before I had anything but exhaust TB CAI and pullies. He started directly ahead of me going up a long straight exit ramp getting onto I495 and I was inching (and i mean inching) up until about 110-115 and it was like he hit nitrous he pulled away and I could not do anything. The mods I have now there is no way I was going to be caught at 100, or 110, or 120 for that matter. LS1s are not f#ckin Vipers.

Relax, you won the race because that day at that time you were the superior driver. There is a LOT to be said for the driver mod especially when talking about manual cars. Not everyone can drive thier cars to full or close to full potential. But that day you did and he didn't.
I know you think you have a Vette/LS1 killer on your hands but you really need to look at heads/cam for that to be true. Or at least have the N20 bottle filled and ready at all times
Re: LT1 beats LS1
Now there ya go again. See I dont think, I know I have an LS1/Vette killer sitting in my garage. Ive already beatin 2 Vettes that Ive raced and one of those races was in the gears where those wonderful LS1s are supposed to shine. You dont need a H/C car to beat an LS1. If i spray my 100 shot right now ill be running with a Viper. Beleive what you want like i said before, but unless your *** has sat in my car dont offer up contradictary opinions to what i say about MY car and make them out to be fact. Each car responds differantly to each mod so I dont give a damn what manufacturers claim I would get from a cold air or exhaust. If you think its that cut and dry then your way off.
Re: LT1 beats LS1
Snake, Darren is being very nice and you keep throwing everything he says right back at him. Yeah, your car is fast and I'm sure you annihilated that LS1, I've taken a few down both on the street and at the track, but they are NOT slow by any means.
Listen to him, he's only trying to inform you about what can happen when you find yourself racing against someone who can shift as good as you can in an LS1 M6. From the sound of it you're an excellent driver and that alone is going to be good enough to beat alot of poorly driven LS1's.
All I'm saying is that Darren is right, and so are you, but you should listen, learn, and then be prepared for it so you don't run your mouth to the wrong person and end up embarassed. I show every LT1/LS1 respect regardless of what they have done to it and when we run weather i win or lose it doesn't matter because the respect is there.

Its not the same ..Im suprised no one else pointed that out .
2: Snake ..nice kill man . ANd im not taking anything awayn from your car , but , Im sure its fast. The ZLT1 in sig is a 12 second car no dought about it as it sits . I ran that car w/my TA when I first got it and My car was stock VS the Z and the Z has 410's . I slowly pulled it off the line and once we hit 65..It was not even a race .
I also raced a friend with a cammed/header LT1 that was tuned and geared . That race was almost a dead heap with me slightly pulling out on him.. at around 70 I started to pull even better . Only thing I had was a TSP cat back when this race took place .
Nice kill ....Your car has to be pretty qucik to have even held its own but beings the guy was beat so badly . It sounds like you where clearly the better driver .
