Re: LS1 vs LT4

89 corvette was the first 6 speed. The 4+3 is a four speed with an overdrive bolted to the back of it.

The 96 vette isnt as light as some of you guys might think. I dont know the exact weight but its around 3400lbs. All 96 lt4's are 6 speeds and lt1's are all auto's

It will be close, as the lt4 is underrated as well. I still say that the ls1 will prevail............

I disagree.LT4's make 330. Never saw an LS1 dyno that didnt prove to make more then 330.

Especially a modded LS1 vs. a stock LT4. It's not going to be close. With the lt's and 4:10 alone you will burn him.

Yes that is exactly what I meant. Thanks for clearing it up for him.

Correct me if I'm wrong...but isn't the hotcam from the LT4 originally? It is called an LT4 hotcam. So the hotcam is the stock cam for the LT4 motor. I also believe they have a different intake manifold.

No, there is a standard LT4 cam that came in all the factory cars, it's barely any different at all from the LT1 cam actually. Much like there is a LS1 Hotcam that is a performance part over the standard LS1 cams...

Re: LS1 vs LT4

i have a lt4 conversion package on my camaro (the 425 hp kit) i also have all the supporting mods like cai, exhuast, etc.

i raced a 2000 ss auto with hooker long tubes, ORY, lid, free ram air, granatelli mass air, smooth air bellows, and throttle body.

at the time i had a 2800 stalled auto, from a stop i would murder him. from a roll it was pretty even.

since the vette is stock, i think the ls1 will end up in front.... but only barely

That is a very confusing statement. Are you saying that lt4's make 330hp at the wheels? Also, you have never seen an LS1 dyno less than 330hp on a dyno?

Re: LS1 vs LT4

The stock LT4 vettes seem to dyno right at the same 300ish rwhp level as most stock LS1s from what I've read, which would peg the LT4 as pretty underrated.

http://www.grandsportregistry.com/dyno.htm has several stock LT4 dyno numbers, and plenty with mods.

You should take an LS1 with those mods compared to yours.

Dyno numbers should reflect RWHP and RWT. Crank HP is often inflated and meaningless. Besides, the early LS1's where rated at 305hp which is below 330 hp Correct? I'm not trying to be an ***, just calling them like I see them.

Re: LS1 vs LT4

My brother's stock LT4 Vette made 308 rwhp and ran low 13's@107-108, so it's pretty comparable to the LS1.

Re: LS1 vs LT4

If its for money I'd watch and make sure he's actually stock. Most Vette guys I have seen rarely do much racing, but one reason to start would be having trick up their sleeve.

Can you confirm that its bone stock and does he know your modded?
