Interesting evening at the track...

Went to South Georgia Motorsports Park for their T-n-T last Friday night. Only got in three runs, but they were all interesting to say the least.

First run:
Me vs. a 2002 Z28, auto. I won on a hole shot.

Me: 14.179 with a 2.179 60'
Him: 14.154 with a 2.196 60'

Something didn't seem right with that car.

Second run:

Me vs. a 1996 WS6, 6MT. Newbie driver.

Me: 14.070 with a 2.093 60'
Him: 14.632 with a 2.321 60'

Third run:

Me vs. a ~2001 Saleen S-281 with blower. Had the worst run of the night because the track was going away, but again, I won on a hole shot.

Me: 14.192 with a 2.220 60'
Him: 13.779 with a 2.131 60'

All of this in my wife's 2001 Pontiac GTP.

Been jonesin' to take somethin' to the track since my TA is under the knife at the moment and ended up being quite content. Not too bad for $120 in mods and +90* temps.

I need to get some lessons from you if you ever get back to Tampa.

Thanks! I'm quite surprised at how well it does too.

Mods are:
$60 for a 3.4" pulley
$40 for a 9" K&N cone
$10 for the ABS septic piping pieces I used to fab up a home made CAI kit
$10 for a 160* thermostat

Thats it!

Re: Interesting evening at the track...

Those 3.8's are great engines. I almost never see them with serious problems, even the SC'd ones.

Was that pulley a lot smaller than stock? Or was it just a little smaller?
I bet with an exhaust system and maybe a computer tune that GTP would really run.

What kind of mph were you getting?

Yeah, I really can't complain about the car at all. So far it has been problem free and it takes to mods really well.

Stock pulley is a 3.8", the 3.4" is pretty much the first step smaller.

My MPH was averaging in the high 98's for the three runs (99.03, 98.82 & 98.87)
