Just knowing the power to weight, and the gearing of the MACH1, it's hard to imagine it trapping much over 104. Even so, trapping 104 is pretty dang quick, and getting 13.35 is doing great on street tires for a 104 trap speed. What are MACH 1's putting down to the rear wheels, ON AVERAGE? It takes a decent amount of bolt on's for a LT1 to hit 104 traps.

Thanks Dan,
My dyno was with the flows on the car and I put down 284 rwhp and 311 tq.
One thing I found interesting to let everyone know about Mach 1s. They come from the factory with 17x8 wheels and 245 45 17 goodyears.
I ran the times on those, then a few weeks later went and sold my wheel/tire stockers in order to get the 17x9 black bullitt wheels with 275 rubber.
This was a big mistake for track useage as I slowed down. The 17x9 with 275 on the front of the car made it like trying to push steamrollers down the track.
I actually lost 3 solid tenths!!!!! Whoa.
Then put the 4.30 gear in and lost 2 more tenths!!!! DAMN!!!!
Then some one enlightened me to try skinnies and slicks at the track. I borrowed a set the first time and then had to purchase my own as I vowed never to return to the track without them.

This is just to let people know if they kill a Mach or an LS1 or a bolt on LT1 in their Neon that they may have 275-285 tires up front trying to carry the road race look onto the strip and it just simply kills them.

Re: how fast are the mach 1's

Good reply guys. I also have 275/40-17's on all 4 corners, and my times are with those tires/rims. Wouldn't trade them for anything, but it's nice to know how they slow me down. Maybe the bullitt wheels are heavier than the SS ZR1 wheels? They didn't seem to slow me down that much. I never got to make a run with only the wheel/tire change, since I did my MAC headers and catback at the same time. I still gained 4 mph and 0.4-0.5 though. I guess I would have gained more if I kept the 245/50-16's on, which I knew would happen, but I didn't think it could be up to 0.3 seconds slower.

275-290 rwhp? That's nice to see. Good power from that stock engine. 284/311 is just under what my LT1 did with headers, CAI, and catback (285/318)

Re: how fast are the mach 1's

[QUOTE=mhhodges76]I had a 94 Trans Am with the following mods:
LT-4 hot cam, 1.6 RR's, headers, no cats with Flowmasters, PCMFORLESS tune, LT-4 Knock Module, Drag Radials, bored .20, CAI, Built 4L60E with a Corvette cervo. and ran a best 13.30 with a 60ft. time of 1.9 secs. I did have 3.23 gears though.
My Mach 1 has flowmasters, Predator tune and K&N CAI and ran 13.30 with a 60 ft. time of 2.1 secs.

Was your LT1 ill? mine has 200k and will run a 13.0 all day long with 2.0 Sixties with very little work. And it has no engine mods at all. Never removed a valve cover.

That's a good point. 13.3 for those mods is pretty dang slow, no offense. What was your trap speed? Was traction the problem? I'm running 13.5@105 with MAC headers, Hooker catback, CAI, and 1.6RR's, with a 2.15 60'.

There's a lot more factors into E/T than mods...

True, but with slicks and those mods, he should have been into the mid 12's. That's easy to say though, and harder to do. That's why I asked what he trapped, because that's a better indicator of a cars potential. ET has too many factors involved. Trap speeds are MUCH more indicative of horsepower. ET's are just how well you are able to make use of that HP. I could be running better ET's myself with a 105 trap, but I have my car set up for handling, which hurts the launch. A 2.15 60' is nothing I should be proud of.

so are they that slow or am i running that fast.

(havent updated the times since the tracks close here, the times in the 95 are from 2 yrs ago.just a few bolt ons and suspention added since)
Have you been taking creative writing classes?

If you're not - you should be - since your fictional writing skills obviously need some polishing...

... either that or you need to lay-off the crack-pipe.

What's a DSG Mach 1? Maybe that's a stupid question, but I'm not familiar with the term DSG.

Well, if that's the case, what does Angus have done to run the times in his sig. Chime in here Angus. You aren't cutting that 60' with street tires. Any other mods? Be honest now.

BTW Craig, your Mach 1 looks nice.

Ii might have been the humidity. That night it was 86% humidity. I was told by others that the car felt faster than a 13.30. I even run with a LS1 formula that normally runs 12.76 and he ran a 13.20. Traction was not an issue. My trap speed was 104mph.

Is that an auto. or a manual?

Ford made good DOHC N/A power since the '99 Cobra. I just think that the IRS suspension setup hindered unskilled drivers to make that car perform as intended.

That car made 320HP and that's about what the Mach 1s are making right? They're basically the same car but the suspension and gear ratio is different, and that's where the performance differs, in my opinion.

I was at the track last night and watched two new GTs (one auto. and one manual) go 13.7 and 13.8, respectively. The auto. had a CAI and a Steeda tower bar, and 500 miles! These cars are also making about 320HP as well, but they have the solid axle and deep gears, which I think makes a significant difference.

Just the usual bolt-ons (Cold-Air kit/exhaust/etc), gears, a little weight reduction (no spare/jack/front sway bar/etc) and slicks/skinnies.
My ET is actually kinda slow for the mods I have - plenty of Mach's running low 12's with my same set-up...

The engine has never been touched internally, and it wasn't even tuned when I ran 12.53 w/1.67 60ft time.

Faster times coming this weekend now that I've had the car dyno-tuned...

Re: how fast are the mach 1's

Your mph is where I wished mine was , but since I only have the gears and flows on the exhaust for my mods I cant expect much more than 104 mph.
