But with a 3000 stall for example when you down shift to a gear where the rpms would normally be less than the stall speed it will instead be at the stall speed and multiplying torque.
So then your downshift to the 2300 poop zone will never happen, it can't.

thats bull**** that it just had bolt ons. mustang owners like to lie and say all bolt ons then have 10g under the hood. if hes getting you by that much with what you have on your car theres alot more done then you think. i know alot of mustang guys around my house are buying stock gts then putting the roush supercharger kit on them. but nothing else making their cars "sleepers". i know with my car 93 lt1 very little work. i beat the brand new GT's by a half car or more depending on the driver

 

It really isn't uncommon for a full bolt-on car to be running very low 13s to high 12s. If he had a good set of tires on it and hooked with a M5 he could very well have beat him. Gears are HUGE on Mustangs as well. I would gather that 85% of car people would consider them a bolt-on and that could make a big difference.

 

I personally, do not consider gears a "bolt on".

 

Good race, you can't win them all. It's defintely possible that he was all bolt-ons (gears count in my opinion). I've seen a bolt-on 2V GT run high 12's @ 105 mph. That'd more than enough to take an LT1 with moderate bolt-ons (especially an A4 in the roll race). Since you don't have alot to spend I'd save a little more and then get a nitrous kit. That'll help alot from a roll and from a dig. Next up would be a stall and drag radials. You'll have nasty street machine then.

 

A4 @ 40MPH is def in the poop zone

You would have fared much better from a dig or a slow roll. A stall really helps as well, but the "zone" still exists for me still, its just not as a bad as the stock stall.
