I seen where MM@FF Ran a 12.30 in a Bone Stock GT500...thats not to bad...but 70k is freakin insane...ALso I Read where The new Saleen parnelli jones Boss is out...ITs a 5.0 liter 400hp N/A car...lol...and it runs a pathetic 13.30....Weighs in at 3600 lbs...and it'll cost ya 61k...Better get in line...( I think I just puked in my mouth a little)

First off... Just because a horrible driver only runs 13's with it does'nt mean every GT500 is going to run that time. I've seen several LS1 F bodies run in the 13.9-14.0 range.We all know that a LS1 can run faster than that. On dream car gararge they only ran 12.2 in a new Z06. I thought they were 11 sec. cars?? I guess they are not then since one ****ty driver only ran 12's with one.
As for the LS1 that ran 13.0. It may have been stock but most likely had some bolt on's.Most bone stock LS1's run in the 13.3-13.6 range.However some do run 12.9-13.0 bone stock but thats rare. So chances are that it had a lid,catback,etc. to pick up a few tenths.
Right now the GT500's are being marked up over sticker price because the Ford guys are clamoring for the FASTEST production Mustang ever made and some have the $$$ to pay that price. But once that settles down a bit you'll be able to get it for sticker which is $40k. Name a new chevy that makes 500hp and has a $40k sticker?
One thing I dont understand though is that some people in one breath will put down the GT500 then in the next breath say how great the '03-'04 cobra is. The GT500 is quicker,faster and far more collectable than the cobra.
So if you think the GT500 is crap NEWSFLASH the cobra is even CRAPPIER.
People who say that, show how much they really know about cars. I basicly ignore them after those statements because it's pointless debating with morons.
While posting this MOTORWEEK was on and they named the GT500 the performance car of the year.
BTW there is now a bolt on GT500 running in the 9's.
Honestly if I had the $$$ I'd rather have the Z06 but the GT500 is a nice car as well. Just because a car is'nt as fast as the Z06 does'nt mean its junk.
But I'm sure some of you chevy diehards would call it junk even if the GT500 made made 1000hp N/A, ran mid 9's@150 bone stock on street radials and got 40mpg and sold for $25k.
But I know Ford guys who feel the same way about chevy's.

Can u really knock the LS1? .....Seriously....Ive owned 2 mustangs 00 and 03....U really gotta dig deep to just run on par with the LS1.....the 3v is a decent engine the 4v is nt any better than the 3v...but its still not what a LS1 is...And the LS2 Vette (400) is running the same as a 5.4l Supercharged GT500....Lets not bring in the LS7 N/A Z06... I live in Texas and the Z06 is being sold at Sticker in my area ( 65-70k)...and that GT500 is soaring past that by nearly 20k..sure its signed by the man Carrol Shelby himself and to a collector that its self may be worth it.....But lets be honest..15-20 yrs from now...that car I believe will be lucky to bring in 100k value.....
Just my opinion...I enjoy Mustangs and if u want to argue Mustang vs Camaro/Vette ..in popularity than go ahead..I mean its your opinion.....But lol....Dont comein and start talking Engines and Performance.....Yikes...Chevy wins hands down.....Hell I was the biggest Mustang guy there was and i will continue to like mustangs, but hell....Untill I drove my SS.... reality just set it

the gt500 running in the 9's can spark a whole differant arguement. 2008 z06 is supposed to be s/c'ed, so what happens then? but more importantly, lets say you could buy a gt500 right now for $40k out the door. those mods (like evolution performance did) pulley, exhaust, tune, intake, dr's, n20, added up to almost another $5k. so for $45k you have a car dipping in the nines. add $20k to a 03 cobra, or ls1 and you have the same thing but saved on your base price. always $-power ratio.

The GT500 IS a turd... well maybe not a turd but it is waaaaay overrated! It's quicker and faster than a 03-04 Cobra on average by a tenth or two and a MPH or two. And it does this with 110 more HP Sure you can always add more power, but no matter what you do you just cannot truly overcome the near 4000 curb weight and ****ty weight distribution. In the end, its STILL a $70K Mustang
