got a mudhole stomped in me... by a SRT4

the title says it all. I was comin back home and I hear turbo whine and a loud blow off valve. He slowed down, I pulled up beside him and we were rolling about 40mph, and we took off. To make a long story short, it was about a 3 second race. He ended up running about id say 80, and I was doing about 60. I didnt feel as bad when I smelt race fuel coming from him. Oh well, he had more money in mods then I do in my whole car. Mines all stock btw.

Gotta hate that man, but then again.... I couldnt imagine owning a stock 94 Z either. So with that said, you need to start modding that thing bro.
Those turbo cars take less money than what you might think to go fast.

Those turbo Neon's can boogie with some parts thrown at them. I have seen a few stock ones at the track going low 14's to high 13's at 99-100. That is healthy enough to get by a lot of stock LT1's.

These little turbo and S/C cars can be modded pretty easily.

Thats why I got a new crate 350.

I raced an SRT-4 with my old original L98 and we were dead even. All the way up to 80mph.

And my L98 ran consistant 14.1 1/4's.

Hey, atleast it was an American car

Oh I know for damn sure it wasnt stock. You could hear the turbo whine and a loud blow off. The exhaust was real loud too. And like I said he was runnin race fuel, so he had to have high compression, unless he likes spending $200 to fill up.

Elevation makes big difference too. FI cars wont lose as much power as N/A cars will. Im sitting ~2500' and stock SRT-4's are running low 14.1's and 14.2's@98-99mph compard to stock LT-1's running 14.5's-14.7's @95-97mph. I ran into a stage 3 on the freeway and he put 3 cars on me between 60-90 . I saw him at the track a couple weeks later and he was 12.8's @109 on drag radials. They are no joke but i would never buy one. Its still a neon.

I ran 2 SRT-4's and I've beaten them both...granted I didn't kill them (2 car lengths), our elevation is right around 1000 ft. I've also got a very strong running LT1 though ;-)

Don't feel too bad about losing to a modded SRT-4...

In stock form aren't much but as soon as you start staging up (1,2,3, etc.) they get really fast. Stone on LS1.com runs a stage 2 SRT-4 with supporting mods and he's beat a lot of really fast cars (GT500, SRT-10, etc.) I thought he was BS'n but he's posted vids and he's well respected on the forum.

I would never even consider owning one of those but they can be really quick. It's all about power to weight and who can row their gears.

Nice death, now start modding!!!!

Start with those stainless steel OBX headers on ebay, they are $499 shipped!
