EVO vs Seagull @ 180+ MPH
I suspect that the video was of a timed event 30-130mph but that doesn't mean they shut down there.
I don't know if your guys measurement of the lines and gap between them is accurate. I believe this video is from England where things may be different.
bottom line, the top of 5th gear in an evo is a minimum of 160mph .. period, end of story.

you still havent answered, whats under the top 100 mark? ..............cause its a 60, 60 , 60! meaning he was running in kmp not mph. that evo wasnt running that fast, get over it.
as far as the marking, i dont give a sh*t if you think they are mismarked or not. its an international marking for a reason. so a mexican pilot, japanese, african or whoever knows his distance on his/her approach on landing. its no conspiracy there as even u.s.a has them marked off in meters and not feet/yards so a pilot doesnt have to calculate that in final seconds of landing.
if you so insist the top of any evo is a minimum of 160mph, i propose this. i will pay for you to fly or drive here. i will give a certified check to jason debler here, he's an admin. the check will be for travel expenses and $5k. we will go with a neutral cameraman to a local car dealer and secure a new evo. if it breaks 170mph, fine, moneys yours (since you are confident its a minimum of 160mph) . if not, i expect a check in jasons hands for $5k im going to collect. stock evo. tell me when, ill set up your itinerary to philadelphia international airport. you front travel costs, pm me the expense, i add that to $5k and it goes to jason. bet?
I don't think a stock one will do 170, I think they will do 160 though. I had mine to 162 before I let off but I had a manual boost controller, air filter, exhaust and the rpm limit was bumped a little bit.
the car in the video doesn't sound stock either, the bov, turbo and rev limit are modified

here's what the spedometer would look like if it were in KPH

260 kph = 161.55651 mph

There are 4th gen Z28 Camaros with 110mph speedometers. They are well capable of doing 150+ but they werent equipped with Z rated tires and had a 110mph governer.
that's an interesting fact I didn't know. The evo's come with z rated tires and aren't speed limited, they are RPM/gear limited. The magazines say 157 is all they'll do bone stock.
But since the video wasn't made in the USA, the speedo was most likely set to kph. Why would it be in MPH? And every car let's you switch back and forth between mph and kph. That would explain the pegged speedo and the slow moving scenery, no? I don't know why your so defensive about it really?? It has nothing to do with you or us not believing an evo (modded) can do 180. It's just physics. At 180 mph scenery moves by MUCH faster and stopping takes MUCH longer.
Your only bone of contention is that the car is redlined. Since we have no way to prove it's in the highest gear, that has to be thrown out. Not to mention we don't know if it's a 5 spd or a 6 spd.

Here is one of my favorite videos for your enjoyment. This is a built C4 hitting 186mph on Nitrous. This was recorded at the Maxton Monster Mile and won a record for the class it ran in.

the video was made in england where you can buy the fq 320 and 400 models that have the ralliart cluster (they are the only ones that have that) and they reads in MPH instead of KPH.
it's a runway and flat ground so it's going to LOOK very slow for the speed.
Sure they read in MPH, but they also read in KPH. It's selectable, like most cars. If you lived in England, and you drove a right hand drive car, and all the speed limits and signs used the metric system, what would you have your car set to? People in England don't drive around in mph anymore than people in the US drive in kph.

Please don't say yes.
