motor trend had the best result at 100ft that's nice but everyone else that tested the car was 110-120ft which suggests to me that Motortrend either had a factory freak or a ringer or flunked the test.

unfortunately I cannot find any data from motortrend on the evo but I did find tests from dozens of other sources with the best (in my 5 minutes on google) was this one at 110ft for the evo and countless 114 & 115ft results from others magazines.

http://www.modernracer.com/mitsubishilancerevo8.html - 110ft

clearly both cars brake about the same...the difference is that I own an EVO and you don't own a z06 so keep living through a magazine.

I'm educating some ignorant people that don't realize how well the EVO brakes, that's all.

I'm willing to bet a few people that read this thread were a little surprised to learn that the EVO can Brake with the best.

Of course I don't own an EVO. I'm 33 years old. I'd look like an idiot in it. It's a high performance kid's car. Doesn't make what I say any less true though. I don't know if you realize this or not, but when mags test cars, factories send the same cars out to a ton of different journalists. The first people to test a car get a vehicle with new pads, unfried brake fluid, non-warped rotors and brand new tires. Now imagine you're the 12th journalist to beat the living sh*t out of the car, sometimes on the same day, and you'll understand why they get different test numbers. There is no vette ringer conspiracy at Motortrend, I promise you. They were just the first people to test the car, I'm sure. I'v also got a quote from C&D talking about how the new Z06 outbrakes all Ferrari's but the Enzo, both Lambos, and the Ford GT500. I'd say it's a safe bet that the same thing hasn't been said of the Evo.

But to stay on point, what's this got to do with the fact that there was no way in hell that car was doing 180?

Ummm....wtf are you talking about? I said the Z06 had world class brakes and a lot more tire than the EVO. Both statements are absolutely true. Do you disagree?

YOU are the one who suggested the VETTE couldn't touch the EVO, remember? Do I need to quote you?

I didn't meant to ruffle any feathers, just didn't want people buying into the notion that the z06 is leaps and bounds better at braking than the EVO.

I can see this is just going to turn into a pissing match so I'm going to bow out.

I don't think anyone took the time to learn about me either and we're talking about the braking of the evo, not every aspect of the z06 which has nothing to do with the video I posted.

since i started the trashing ill say this. im not picking on you (unless you made that vid). you are going by what they say happened, im saying they didnt go that fast. im not saying an evo isnt ever going to hit 180mph, but that one did not in that vid. i can film my car going down the street, not show the speedo and say i was cruising at 800mph but ........ im sure you get the point.

its also not just because its an evo i say this. i posted how a friend of mine adjusted the gear ratio in programming and filmed his speedo maxed out at 155mph but when the camera pointed outside the car, some suv was along side of him. people will do and say differant things for whatever reason and i hate when they lie. im sticking to my guns as they did not hit 180mph. you posted the vid fine, it was messy and gross, fine, im not trying to give you any sh*t for it. again, unless you made the vid, your not the one lying about the speed.

That's what I'm saying. It's not about Vette vs. Evo, or that I think an Evo (modded) couldn't hit 180, or that it had poor brakes. I was just using the Z06 cause it's what came up on Google when I searched for braking times. The evo is an awesome car for what it is. I love the water sprayer for the IC and the adjustable 4wd. It's kind of a drab car, but for fun to drive it's a tough one to beat. I spent about 3 hrs. behind the wheel of an MR edition and I had a ball. I'd own one if it looked better. All that aside, my point was that whoever made the vid was lying. The car wasn't doing 180 and theroad64 hit the nail on the held. A 2lb. bird hitting the windshield at 180 would impode it.

Btw, thanks SSlither for the nice words.

F*** EVO's. If they were doing 180, it was in KPH.

The intro to the second video of this series clearly states 130+ MPH
but the view of the gauges appears to say 180.

notice the foreign steering wheel set up. over seas car. u.s.a is only country to use mph, the primary on the speedo is km/h. if you freeze the vid at one point and look under where it says 100 you will see a 60. 100 kmph is 62mph. 180 kmph is 111mph but i might believe 130mph with the speedo pegged. many on here myself included pegged out a 155mph speedo to ~160-165
