I don't know why Chrysler never made a modern car to compete direclty with the Camaro/Firebird/Mustang. They made the Viper but were scared to make a 2/3 scale version. A while back someone suggested they offer the Viper body (or something similar) with the 6.1 Hemi as a lower model. Obviously they thought it'd hurt the Viper's image or sales.

Today they'd argue the market won't support a muscle car. Their other cars can do double duty as a family hauler but strictly go-fast is being ignored.Hyundai can offer a RWD coupe sporting either a turbo 4 or 310hp v6. Then there's the Sky/Solstice twins from GM, yet Dodge can't deliver anything similar. This is the same company that produced the Prowler that can't think of a sub-4k lb car to stick a Hemi in.

Oh, and with the v6 in the upcoming Camaro making nearly as much power as Ford's 4.6, the other automakers better take note that the horsepower wars are still on!
