Some people may be in denial because they are jealous that their car with mods cant even give a showroom stock car a good race.
Maybe some people may be in denial because they went and bought a Z06 thinking they had something special and now the standard 'vette will be just as fast.
Remember when the ZR1 came out. It was called the King of the Hill.It was like a frenzy when they came out because no one thought they could make a fuel injected, enviromentaly friendly car that fast. They were getting marked up $10-20k.Now a good running C5 can give one a very close race.
I cant wait to see the new Z06 when it comes out. That car will be insane.GMHTP said its going to have a 427 stroker and over 500hp. SWEET!!

Cartek's C6, with three different drivers, went 13.1@109mph.
Another privately owned C6 on LS2.com went 13.1@109mph.
IMO, they won't be as quick as a C5 Z06.

I think they will be nearly as fast as a C5 Z06. Just because two people got lousy times out of theirs doesnt mean the rest of people who own one will. There are stock C5's that have done better then that, you belive that with 50 more horses they will run the same times?

Re: Is a C6 all that fast ?

Three people all ran no better than a 13.1@109 in the Cartek car. This is fact.
I don't know the details on the other car, other than it was posted on another site (LS2.com). The owner is a prior Z06 owner and went 12.3 in that car.
I think they'll run better, but I don't think they'll be quicker than a C5 Z06.

I bet all of these C6's didn't have many miles on them. Wait until they get 3500-4000 miles on them and see what times they will run then!

Sean,

How is it that Cartek is seeing a .5 second slower ET than the Car and Driver ****...? I believe the car will run on par with a C5 Z06. More cubes, comparable weight, should run the low 12's number at 115 when broke in.

Re: Is a C6 all that fast ?

My new issue of motor trend just arrived and the cover says "200 proof". a picture of 3 cars in the 200mph club. An Enzo, carerra gt, and the FordGT (which i have have had the pleasure of riding in.) Very awesome. I was thinking that maybe in a year or so these cars would be the new vette z06. I'v heard they're do a fresh new 4 valve head like a newer version of the Zr1. 500hp in the new c6 should secure a place in the 200mph zone and a mid-high 11 quarter. Most bang for the buck indeed!

Re: Is a C6 all that fast ?

I say it will be *slightly* slower (not as quick) because it has a bit more weight and it has different gearing. The gearing leads to a higher top end mph. It will be so close though, that it will come completely down to driver skill. C5 Z06s have dipped into the high 11s with a highly skilled driver and I suspect that the C6's will dip into the low 12s.

I personally think GM has been slipping ringers to the mags.
C6 M6 goes 13.014@109mph..
Cartek's project C6.
Just IMO.

Re: Is a C6 all that fast ?

New motor vs. magazine (broken in) cars. Wait until they get 1000-2000 miles on the motors and cooler weather. I think that we won't really see what they're ultimately capable of until 2005, simply because people need to get miles on their brand new car.
