another silly corvette owner...
I never said that they sounded slow, I said that I know they can be fast, but they still sound like angry bees nests. I am, in no way, trying to say they cant be fast. I have been beat by cars that sound like that before. I'm simply saying I dont like the sound.

You're off by almost 800HP! The current 3.0L max displacement engines put out around 850 on average. And although the older smaller engines put out similar numbers, they weren't reliable. Trying to squeeze that much power out of a motor that size was foolish, and F1 woke up and upped the displacement for safety reasons.
Honda claimed about 1250 from their engine, but that was qualifying tune. AKA - blow up after a few laps. They only ran 700HP or in actual race tune.
I happen to be a fan of F1 racing, so don't go spouting that BS over here!
And to your 10,000 RPM Honda comment... Bike engines aside, I've heard plenty of nasty sounding S2000s
For someone who "knows" Honda's you've got a lot of facts wrong!

Nothing like dropping a 20 car length win on a smart ***!
Priceless! Wish I had had a video camera with me, I would have given that jackass a copy! Guy had no clue.

Yes, Steve they could buy it. But could they afford the insurance on it, especially if they are 16-20? Insurance is out the roof on our cars, unlike those slow Hondas. This might have been one of the downfalls with our cars, young guys want them, but can't pay a $1000 insurance deductible.

Its the 028 link....its in Japanese but basically its says more than 1000ps and their Hall has the engine dis-assembled with 1500ps which was an estimate based on acceleration values much like Top Fuel dragsters use since they cant "dyno" a motor that lasts a few seconds
So Marc...how many F1 championships does Chevy have these days? Riiight....guess their pushrod technology is no match for hydrolically lifted vales they use in F1 right....or the carbs they use in NASCAR are too "high tech"

You also forgot to mention that they banned turbos because Honda DOMINATED the power game....one of the smallest car companies in the world at the time and they are out pacing the big boys....wonder why the rules changed....oh thats right because people dont like getting beat by the underdogs
When they changed to NA 3.0L's it meant immense $$$$ to build, test, design a motor to be competitive...they had proven their point...took the championships and said 'thanks but no thanks' to the F1 rule changers
Now they are back and in need of a decent driver....they will rise to the top again....but at least they are in...I dont see domestic manufactureres vying for the chance to out do Ferrari, BMW....GM has enough money.....but they see it as a waste because they would never use that technology on their street cars....so they build ho-hum motors using basic technology and focus making money on trucks and SUV's.....

How bout them pushrod Big Block Chevys movin the cars down the quarter at 300 MPH in 4 seconds? Where's honda in that game? Ya thats right, they have their own circuit because they cant compete, even with turbos.

You have no room to talk when you say these domestic guys pick on your 4 banger. You talk just as much **** about these "ho-hum" motors as they do about your underpowered turd. You will never see a 2 liter 4 cylinder or a 3.5 liter V6 making 7000 hp. There's a reason top fuel teams use 500+ ci Hemis...they go fast. You guys just want to be able to say, "you may have 7000 hp, but we have 500 hp/liter...yeah, but you only have 2 litres." There in lies your problem. The end product is what matters, not the hp/litre or any of that BS.
